Who's Sylvanas Windrunner?

Sylvanas Windrunner Once the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, Sylvanas Windrunner was murdered by the death knight Arthas and brought back as a creature of undeath. After regaining her free will she rebelled against the Lich King and the Scourge and became the founder of the Forsaken faction of undead, who are currently allied with the Horde. She has styled herself the Dark Lady, Queen of the Forsaken, an expansion of her original title, "the Banshee Queen".

As leader of the Forsaken and the Horde on the Eastern Kingdoms, Sylvanas is a military genius. The middle sister of Alleria and Vereesa Windrunner, she was Ranger General of the high elf kingdom of Quel'Thalas. She fought valiantly against Arthas when he invaded Quel'thalas, but during the fall of Silvermoon, Arthas raised her as an undead minion as a form of petty revenge. When the Lich King's hold on his minions weakened, Sylvanas, among other undead, regained her free will, and she led her forces against the dreadlords who had taken hold over Lordaeron, ultimately affirming her sovereignty by killing off two of the nathrezim and bending the third, Varimathras, to her will. She renamed her force of self-aware undead the Forsaken and declared herself their queen.

Under her leadership the Forsaken have managed to not only fend off the Scourge, but also the Scarlet Crusade. She has a certain mastery of leadership, military strategy, and the bow. She is also adept at demon magic - having the ability to drain life, create skeletons, and use mind control. Sylvanas is the best archer on Azeroth - she claimed she could hit a flying bird in the eye. She wields Sunstrider's Longbow - once owned by Dath'Remar Sunstrider, it was passed on to Sylvanas when she became Ranger-General. (Source)

Tale of the Tears - Fan Fiction about Sylvanas

Sylvanas fell in the wildness of Tirisfal, her eyes reflecting the gray walls of Lordaeron. The cloudless sky was as dark as usual. Her fingers grabbed Frostmourne firmly, signs of blood flow already gone. Before she could speak out the name of Arthas, a beam arose from her belly and burst into the sky......

Tale of the Tears - Fan Fiction about Sylvanas

What if Alleria Windrunner is still alive and comes back?

Alleria Windrunner was the head scout of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor. (For more information about Alleria Windrunner, click here). If Alleria Windrunner is still alive and comes back, how will she face Sylvanas and the fact that her race joined the Horde?

In the Ghostlands (Blood Elf 10-20), a zone introduced to the World of Warcraft through its first expansion - The Burning Crusade, all Horde races can start a quest which requires to go to the Windrunner Spire and retake Sylvanas’ necklace for Sylvanas, the queen of the Forsaken. The necklace was given to her by Alleria before Alleria started expedition to Draenor. The inscription on the necklace reads: "To Sylvanas. Love always, Alleria." However, when you hand the necklace Sylvanas, not wanting to show her emotions and feelings for her lost sister, she will say something like “Do you really think you can make me happy by doing so?” and then she will throw the necklace to the ground, then summon 4 high elves’ spirits and sing a song in the High Elven tongue. Nevertheless, at last, she will heave a sigh and pick up the necklace.

Considering the above and the inscription in the Valley of Heroes inside the Stormwind City, we can see that the two sisters love each other very much.

Even though Alleria and her comrades are presumed dead because they have not been seen since the fateful day they missed the last Dark Portal to the Azeroth, Blizzard have never said Alleria had died. With the introduction of Outland, who can say Alleria won’t appear anymore? But if Alleria is alive and comes back, how will she, a hero who once scared trolls away and fought side by side with humans for a long time, face the fact that her race joined the Horde? Will she shoot at her former comrades-in-arms? And how can she fight side by side with orcs for whom she has a deep-seated hatred?

Moreover, how can she face Sylvanas? The Forsaken is currently allied with the Horde, and the two sisters are actually not enemies, but…

Voices from Players

1. Blizzard may let Alleria appear again as a boss for players to fight against. That’s what they’ve often done.

2. She is Kael'Thas’ servant, she just has to follow her master.
So, does it really matter she appears as a Horde member or Alliance member?

3. Alleria can try to persuade the Forsakken to join the Alliance, and then persuade Jaina Proudmoore to marry Thrall and, finally get the Horde and the Alliance reunited, and everyone who has no honor will get a set of tier 10.

Lament of the Highborne

Song's Background

The exact origins of "Lament of the Highborne" have been lost to antiquity. Certainly the melody pre-dates the War of the Ancients, in which the song served as a lament for the fallen: a tribute to their steadfast bravery against overwhelming odds. Millennia later, the high elves of Quel'Thalas sang the lament, largely unaltered, in the Troll Wars. Here, too, the elves ultimately proved victorious, but they would not remain so. A plague of undeath swept through the human nation of Lordaeron in the Third War and converted many citizens into mindless undead minions of the Lich King. This army--the Scourge--invaded elven lands and decimated the populace, some of whom were raised into undeath and forced to join the Scourge.

As leader of the last elven defenders, Sylvanas Windrunner suffered a terrible fate: her spirit was ripped from her body and transformed into a banshee. When the Lich King's power faltered, however, she and other undead were freed of Scourge control. She has since reclaimed her body and become queen of these undead rebels, the Forsaken. Although her heart is full of bitterness, she cannot forget the people she once loved... the kingdom she gave her life to defend.

An Afternoon with Sylvanas

Back in January we had the rare opportunity to venture deep inside Orgrimmar to have a conversation with Thrall the Warchief. Our community responded with overwhelming praise and a desire to hear from the Banshee Queen, Sylvanas. Check out what she had to say about Thrall, Varimathras and her ongoing claim that she's the greatest archer in Azeroth.

ZAM: Hey Sylvanas! So, how's it going in Undercity?

Sylvanas: Speak quickly; I don't have time to waste on idle chatter. The Forsaken have become a force to be reckoned with, but there is still much to do in a given day. This city doesn't run itself. What do you want?

ZAM: Ummm. Isn't that the same dialog you give anyone who runs up to you? I was hoping for something a tad more creative.

Sylvanas: Sorry. It's been so long since I've seen a player!

Oh, sorry about that. Nobody comes to visit you anymore?

Sylvanas: No, after their level 75 quest to save the city they just forget about me. *Sigh*

ZAM: Have you been in talks with Blizzard to play a more central role in the future storyline?

Sylvanas: Presumably I'll be in the content expansion with the raid on Arthas. Given the current patch cycle, that should happen sometime after everybody has quit playing this game. My fury knows no bounds!

An Afternoon with Sylvanas

Well, gee, I guess it must get pretty lonely around here in the meantime. I don't suppose you've been talking to Thrall lately? Word has it he's feeling lonely too!

Thrall? What's that pigheaded Orc been saying about me!?

ZAM: Whoa, calm down. Nothing! Really... just that, you know, he misses talking to you, and stuff.

HA! I bet. Let him stew!

ZAM: Sylvanas, you're one cold banshee. You don't have to be so lonely that you feed Varimathras bananas and make him dance for you. Speaking of which, why is he naked, holding a banana and staring at us?

Sylvanas: What? Who? No Varimathras here!

ZAM: Um, he's right there... naked... with a banana.

I knew it; you never did your level 75 quest! That's the only reason you're here to talk to me!
