Anyone ever wondered whether the AOS (Aeon of Strife) style will become a top hit in 2012? They can now get the answer.

It is reported that since AOS style has become increasingly popular, many MMO developers have shifted their focus to this genre. Although it is still too early to predict the future of AOS-style MMOs, one thing for use is that with 7 new AOS MMOs to be released in South Korea this year, the market will see an intense competition soon.

Top three 2011 AOS MMOs to keep foot steady in 2012
The AOS heat in South Korea started from the second half of last year. Three hit titles, League of Legends, Chaos Online and Cyphers have been leading the market since then.

Although it seems Cyphers is taking the lead now, League of Legends, in the long run, will definitely be crowned championship. With strong impact and quick response marketing, League of Legends has achieved a base of 32 million global players and a record of 1.3 million PCU (North America server), both of which prove the charm of this game. In South Korea, League of Legends had been occupying the first place in search ranking list ever since it officially launched service, and within one month after launch, the PCU record of its South Korean server reached 50,000.

Chaos Online will be the one which can compete with League of Legends.

Completely based on Warcraft 3, Chaos Online offered players a chance to experience the fun of this classic PC game in an optimized and massive way. Chaos Online had also achieved great popularity in South Korea. Recently, a few new heroes have joined in this game and it has scored a15,000 PCU record after the open beta was launched.

As mentioned above, Cyphers is currently the leading AOS MMO in South Korean market.

Different from the traditional AOS concept, Cyphers is a fantasy-style MMOTPS featuring actions. What players battle for is to destroy the opponent party's buildings.

Cyphers achieved a 20,000+ PCU record right after launching open beta. In the second half of 2011, this number has risen to 50,000 and in December, 2011, the record hit 82,000.

Seven new AOS MMOs to be released in 2012
Following last year's heat, another 7 new ASO MMOs will be released in South Korea this year.

The first one is Dragonfly's Kingdom Under Fire Online which is adapted from the classic PC RTS Kingdom Under Fire. There are three types of heroes in Kingdom Under Fire Online: Melee, Range and Support, all of which are designed based on the original Kingdom Under Fire.

It is learned that Kingdom Under Fire Online will kick off the second closed beta test in this spring and the open beta test can be expected within the first half of this year.
