Interview with David Perry, who just got back from the GStar conference. We talk about the new expansion and he answered some questions about 2Moons.
MMOsite.com: Hello, David, glad to talk to you again. What have you been busy with these days? Any exciting news to share with us?
David: Just got back from the GStar conference. I attached a few photos I took. It's a great show and its fun to see all the amazing new games on the way. The developers are cool and they take the time to sit down and walk you through all the projects they have in the pipe. I must have looked at hundreds of new games! I have a notebook FILLED with notes and we will try to find more really cool experiences to bring to American gamers. (For free!)
MMOsite.com: You launched Dead Front on Nov. 14. So far, how about the reaction from the players? Can you give us a brief overview about this update?
David: This "Dead Front" gameplay is kinda crazy. The players join into groups, then enter Dead Front based on the level they're at. You collect vouchers from monsters (when you kill them), take 20 vouchers to one of the main castles (Braiken or Loa) and exchange them for the Fortress map (tip: you can buy more than one map). You then take the map to the "Chain of Fire" from North Ares, find the gatekeeper for your level, then apply (around 10 mins before it starts), if you made it in time, with the map and a party, you might get selected by the gatekeeper, then your team is in.
Once inside, you have a horde of monsters to kill, to unlock the internal gates, you also want to control all supply depots. Then you all fight a sub-boss. Then you then follow steps to read the Ancient Book. Then open the boss chamber, find the boss and its minions, kill them (not easy), then you turn on each other, making the last stretch into a last-man-standing PvP battle. It's insane! Anyone that makes it through Dead Front is basically bloody amazing and has my total respect.

MMOsite.com: "No mercy for the weak, no pity for the dying, no tears for the slain" is the tagline for 2Moons. Aside from blood and violence, what other experience do you want to bring to the players?
David: We have a truckload of new features coming over the next few months. I just got back from visiting the developer in Korea. It's really very exciting, especially for new players as they will be blown away by the scope of this game (remembering it's free to play.) We will continue to keep it edgy and will be adding new maps and monsters that you can be sure people will want to post on YouTube.
MMOsite.com: Have your expectations for this game changed since the beginning of the OB? And what's your goal for 2Moons in a year time?
David: In a year, I hope to have addressed all the comments from the gamers, and start to focus on taking some sections of the game to the next level. Like clearly defining this as being the best, more aggressive fighting game ever (on PC or Console.) Easy to say, tough to do. So this will take time, but there's certainly still room for innovation in MMORPG fighting systems. (Just ask the gamers, they have tons of ideas.) If it proves impossible we will save it for 2Moons v2.
MMOsite.com: Some players say they feel "alone" in the game because everyone is so focused on leveling up fast. What will you do to enhance the sense of community in 2Moons in the future?
David: Yes, the social aspects of the game need to keep getting improved, so do the PvP systems (the team is working hard on this.) Also having modes like Dead Front that insist you party up helps introduce players and also lets them reveal their skills to others. We still have a lot of work to do, that¡¯s for sure, thanks for reminding me!

MMOsite.com: We know you're going to launch a major update in December. What new content will be added? New skills, new maps, or anything else?
David: Hehe, I will have to check on this as I have about 10 pages of notes of new features coming, and will need to double confirm what will get unlocked in this update. Our gamers get very excited when they hear the new features and I don't want to put my foot in my mouth until I check this. I will be doing an official post in our forums very soon, this will happen when I know the date is also locked down. (We are writing new content at the moment.) www.2moonsgame.com
MMOsite.com: It seems many players are complaining about the lag problem in 2Moons. What's your comment? How will you resolve this problem? And what will you do to deal with botters and spammers in 2Moons?
David: We have a lot of servers running now, and keep adding more to handle the weight. By now the lag should be solved for most users, if they continue to have problems they simply need to contact support and tell them where in the "real" world they are playing from. We currently have people playing from just about everywhere around the globe, we will clamp that down over time as this game "2Moons" was intended for the North American market only. (My goal was to bring it to the American market and customize it over time based on exactly their needs and requests. That continues to be our goal, on the other hand we do have a lot of gamers that "found" 2Moons, (probably some readers of your site), and so we hope they¡¯re having fun too, even though we might not have set up servers in their country.)
Regarding botters and spammers. We are adjusting the chat system so spammers can't spam over and over, it bugs the heck out of me. We will also work out a system to just automatically shut them down fast. For botters, we have fun with them, we use a GM account, we appear beside them, confirm they are bots, teleport ourselves to jail, then summon them. Commonly the bot has no idea it moved, so it's amusing to come and see it in jail. Players help us find the bots quickly, so the GM's & VGM's are getting faster. We are also hiring a lot more staff, so the in-game managers bandwidth is going to keep increasing.
MMOsite.com: Will you put some kind of bonus for wearing full legendary like in Diablo 2? And will there be new skills for Segnales in the future?
David: Yes, as there has been a lot of additions to the game, there will be a re-balance on skills (adding new skills to multiple classes), but it won't happen until after very very careful consideration. The developers are talking to me about this now.
MMOsite.com: What is your favorite class in 2Moons? Can you describe your character in 2Moons? Many 2Moons players are curious about it ^-^.
David: My personal favorite is the Bagi Warrior, I think the class looks really bad-ass when you get them up to level 150, wearing the top of the line armor and riding on a mount. When I ride through town, I think new gamers playing this game love to see a glimpse of just how hard core they can become. I think it's a key part of MMORPG's to see that growth, to really feel it and I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy this game, as I feel it gets you there. But I can also see the potential of how we can do even more, and that's why I'm still excited to be involved in the project. I also have a level 150 magician, but I seem to always choose the Bagi.
MMOsite.com: To conclude the interview, anything else you wanna say to our readers?
David: I come from the console business. I've been making games for 25 years or so now and I have to say, this is really my first toe in the water for MMORPG games, but I'm having a blast. I can only see an incredibly bright future for this style of gaming. We¡¯re learning new things every single day and I feel like it's like the wild west to some extent, there's just so many ideas to explore that it's tough to find time to sleep. I'm working way harder than I ever did in the console business and really look forward to gaming together online becoming the future of this industry.
