KeyWord: SRO,guild,interview Date: 2007-01-29
Summary: Interview with the xael, the guild leader of Fayt_Eternal in SRO

Interview with xael about his guild Fayt_Eternal in SRO.

MMOsite.com: Firstly, tell me a bit about your history with MMOs if you would. What was the first online RPG you played and what would be your favorite?

xael: My first mmo was Diablo 1. I played that when I was a kid and adored the interaction between live people in the game. My current favorite mmo is, obviously, silkroad online.

MMOsite.com: How did you come to play SRO? What draws you to the persistent world genre? Is it the social aspects? Exploration of the gameworld? battles? Crafting?

xael: I was browsing a forum that is long since passed away when one of our members said they found this amazing new free game. SO I decided to check it out and I ve been stuck here ever since. The main thing that keeps me in the game would be the fighting. People on Troy are PvP fanatics and that caters to my needs perfectly. There s alsways a huge PvP group going on at south Don Wang for capes and lots of hunters/theives running around.

MMOsite.com: Tell me a bit about your guild, What server, why the name, how many members, what is the average lvl, that sort of thing.

xael: My guild is located on the Troy server. Currently we re a level 4 guild with a full union. The guild originally started on the game Runescape. It was made by me (Fayted_0ne) and another user who I still talk to (Eternally_Urs). When we decided to make a guild we naturally just took 1 peice from both of our names and came up with Fayt_Eternal. We have the max amount of users ATM but always enjoy looking for new users to replace our inactives. Our average level is somewhere around 4x-51. We re a tightknit group and most of us are on a first name basis with eachother. As well as knowing eachothers names, a few of us also know where eachother lives.

MMOsite.com: What is the requirement to join your guild? How did you come to run your own guild? Was it something you sought or was it thrust upon you?

xael: We really have no requirements to join the guild. All we wish it that our users are active and friendly. Although we don t accept botting, scamming, or powerleveling. I made this guild myself and for a long time I was the only user. Then I met Hypno from the Dawn_Eternal guild. We became freinds and formed an alliance together. Then I warred a clan named Myxu and beat them. The leader was offline and a freind was on his account, so the leader wanted revenge. We ended up talking instead of warring again and somehow came across the proposal they would join our union. Well some time passed and Hypno suggested that me and him joined our guilds together. After that happened we wished Myxu to join us and they agreed to only IF we beat them in a war. We ended up beating them and they agreed to join us and we have all been together ever since.

MMOsite.com: Would your guild give out free items to new players? How do you help them?

xael: We all help eachother regardless of them being a new user or not. All users in the clan will trade together to help a member be able to afford an item. We also loan old sos and + equipment to eachother after one user is finished with it. My top 3 advisors, Eta_Naru, Comrad, and Traker are also the most trusted people in my guild. We all have access to eachothers accounts to borrow items and gold. We?ve also sent money to eachother over paypal to help the others afford silk.

MMOsite.com: What goal will your guild want to achieve in SRO?

xael: We have no specific goal in the game. We don t care if we re the strongest or the weakest guild in the game. All we really want is to have fun with eachother and build the community up. If I had to choose something I would say the closest thing to a goal we have is server-wide-event holding. We have not done it for around 2 months but we re all chipping in to buy a large amount of silk in order to hold more hide-and-seek games, quizzes, and 1 gold sales. We really like to make the community happy.

MMOsite.com: What is the best part of running the guild and what would you care to do without?

xael: The best part of running a guild is the people begin to look up to you. After a while of holding up a large demand guild people start to realise how much effort it is and will start to compliment you on how well your doing. Even though I love to run my guild, I would definately like to get rid of the begging lol. When you re the leader of a large guild people begin to notice that and when you re training they run up to you and ask for random items :(. That starts to cut into training time and then you have to factor in the actual guild members that need help. It can seem a little overwhelming at times.

MMOsite.com: If there was any one thing you could change or add to the game tomorrow, what would you ask for?

xael: I would love to have more team based activities. Maybe a guild arena where the registered members could fight a huge bossguy or a survival game where you fight wave after wave of enemies :).

MMOsite.com: What do you think of the botters and hackers in the MMO games?

xael: I m undecided on that subject.I mean back in beta testing I used to bot to test all character builds. Now I just ignore botters. I deleted all of my characters that were products of bots and made my own "homegrown" characters ^_^. Botters are just to lazy to do their own work. As for hackers I don t like them but I won t condemn them. As long as they don t bother my guildies they don t concern me.

MMOsite.com: Tell us the most memorable guild war in your heart? how many mercenary did you use? where did you fight at? Did you use a cape? What did you and your guildmate think after the war ended.

xael: The largest war I ve had was with 1hp and 1hpUnited. They both warred my clan at the same time and we accepted. It was such a largescale fight. At the time we only had 20 members and we were taking on a full level 3 and level 5 guild. Haha, for every one of our people they had 3 or more. We all kept together in South Donwang and made our semi-circle barrier. All our nukers inside packed together while the pure str s were around us taking the damage. We only used 1 merc scroll which was a ice nuker scroll. We ended up beating them both and our guild had a major moral boost after that battle.

MMOsite.com: Anything you want to share with our readers?

xael: Remember, silkroad is a game, you should treat it as such. Don t become absorbed into it, go out and have some fun with your lives. When you look back on your life you won t be thinking "Wow remember when I hit lvl 70?" You ll just be thinking of all the missed opportunities in the outside world. Good Luck everyone and I ll see you all on the battlefield
