s friend Jason Skaja had a talk with Lean, the MMOSITE Editorial Dept. Manager. We hope this interview will give you more insights into MMOsite.Jason: What made you come up with the idea of mmosite and how did you come up with the name?
Lean: The tremendous success of World of Warcraft made me realize that online games will bring a whirlwind to the European and US markets. And so I came up with the idea of establishing the world
s largest online game info and communication center. Since the site is aimed to focus on MMO games, we decided to name it MMOSITE, which means "A SITE OF ALL MMO GAMES".Jason: I am wondering what part of mmosite do you like the most and why?
Lean: Personally, I like MMOsite Space the most, which, I think is the most potential part in MMOsite. In the future, we will develop blog system, friend system, guild system, etc. based on the current MMOsite Space. MMOsite Space will be a fantastic place for players to communicate with each other on a deeper level.
Jason: Can you give us some back ground on you and what goes on there at mmosite?
Lean: I am MMOSITE Editorial Dept. Manager. I am responsible for the overall management and planning of the Editorial Dept, editor basic skill training and collaboration between the Editorial Dept. and other departments.
Jason: I am sure you play tons of mmorpgs can you tell me what you like about mmorpgs and what one you like the most?
Lean: Yes, I have played several dozens of mmorpgs. The biggest difference between mmorpgs and stand-alone RPG is that players can interact with each other and they no longer have to face cold NPC but instead individuals like them. And they are not bound by pre-determined scenarios, rather, the system will allow them to go on adventures and develop their own stories at their own will.
There are so many mmorpgs to my liking, but World of Warcraft is my favorite. Its lustrous graphics, grand game world, unique classes and races, diversified skill system, compelling equipment... all make me linger in this fantastic world.
Jason: Are you the one who picks out the contest if so how do you pick a good contest from a bad one?
Lean: Yes, or no. I am the one who makes the final decision, but based on the suggestions and discussions of other editors. Usually, we will investigate the potential of a game and determine what kind of contest to hold. And technical staff will also have his say in determining the contest type.
Jason: How did you come up with the style and color designs of the main page of mmosite?
Lean: The main page is designed by our lead designer. He has 6 years experience in web designing (to reveal a secret, Blizzard webmaster even tried to poach him). The new-look MMOSITE homepage has a more optimal structure, displaying all the important parts of MMOSITE and providing easier navigation. Black is used as the dominant color, which goes with red as its complementary color. The whole website looks just cool and professional.
Jason: I would like to know how the news get posted on mmosite and what news stories gets priory over another?
Lean: Some are important and interesting news that editors get from other gaming sites, some are gaming news provided by publishers and some are news about MMOSITE itself. Basically, there is no priority for posting news. We get them posted on a first-come-first-served basis.
Jason: Let
s go to the forum now... why are some games listed in the hot games and how are those topics picked and why?Lean: If a game is hot enough, we will make a game vault for it, and open a subforum for it as well. If we are hosting a contest or event for a particular game, in order to facilitate the running of the contest, we will also open a subforum for that game. The topics listed on the homepage are hot topics in the forum, which have been viewed and replied by a large number of users. We pick them out to attract more users to participate in the discussion.
