In the morning of July 28, invited by The9, Hellgate: London producer Bill Roper was present at ChinaJoy to jointly announce the Chinese name for Hellgate: London with The9¡¯s CEO Zhu Jun and HanbiSoft¡¯s CEO Mr. Kim. The following is an interview with Bill Roper from ChinaJoy Daily Newspaper. Hope you enjoy it!

Q: Hellgate: London blends both RPG and FPS features. So, what new game experiences will it bring to the gamers?

Bill: Hellgate: London features a variety of genres. We hope it will give gamers any kind of enjoyment that they desire, for example, RPG fans will enjoy RPG gameplay and FPS fans will enjoy shooting. Of course, we also hope to mix them up to bring gamers a totally different and all-new game experience.

Q: Concerning the various systems in Hellgate: London, what will attract gamers most?

Bill: Hellgate: London allows gamers to receive appropriate returns in a short time, that is, gamers can get gameplay enjoyment in a short time. Of course, some gamers are used to immersing in the game for long hours doing some time-consuming quests. We have such gameplay in place for these gamers. Generally speaking, we hope to satisfy the need of gamers of all types.

Q: What are the differences and similarities between Hellgate: London and Diabolo in regards to system setting?

Bill: Since 16 or 17 of the Hellgate: London Dev team staff have been engaged in Diabolo¡¯s development, there are quite a lot of similarities between the two titles concerning system setting. You¡¯ll also find  rare items and magic equipments in Hellgate: London like in Diabolo. In addition, we wish to bring more Chinese cultural element into Hellgate: London during its language localization. London is only our starting point.

Q: Hellgate: London has adopted a lot of new graphics technologies. Does it mean it will have higher system requirements?

Bill: When we started the project, we have taken into account of gamers with high level computers or low level computers. We hope all gamers will have a chance to play Hellgate: London, so basically speaking, Hellgate: London is suited to gamers with any kind of computer.

Q: Is it true that Hellgate: London¡¯s source code has been leaked? What kind of impact has the incident had on the development of Hellgate: London? The leakage of the source code may result in the appearing of private servers and botting programs. How will you tackle these problems?

Bill: We are also very concerned about this issue. We¡¯ll try our best to avoid the repetition of such an incident. The incident has indeed affected Hellgate: London¡¯s development to some extent. However, because the title is still in its development phase and many systems are far from complete, the development hasn¡¯t been interrupted. Concerning the issue that private servers and botting programs may appear in the future, we¡¯ll eliminate such game-damaging behaviors through the joint efforts with our partners.   

Q: Where does Hellgate: London development stand now? When will it hit open beta?

Bill: Though our joint efforts, currently, the project is going on smoothly. We hope it could go into Beta by the end of this year.
