Summary: Fury is pure PvP, rank in fury is based on the number fulfilled, not on levels gained by accumulating experience points, players advance and become more powerful by completing trials to recover ancient memories

Fury is a competetive massively multiplayer online game being develloped by Auran Games. Fury is pure PvP, rank in fury is based on the number fulfilled, not on levels gained by accumulating experience points,  players advance and become more powerful by completing trials to recover ancient memories.  Now, the Lead Designer of Fury, Adam Carpenter comes to tell us more about the game.

MMOsite.com: Fury marked the high standard of the industry. To start, can you basically introduce the faces behind the title?

Adam Carpenter: Fury is being developed by Auran, one of Australia¡¯s oldest game developers. Auran¡¯s main office is in Brisbane, Australia and we have a satellite office in Gothenburg, Sweden where Fury¡¯s networking code is being developed.

The Fury team is made up of 36 experienced people from around the world and includes Americans, Australians, Canadians, Chinese, Italians, Koreans, New Zealanders and Swedes. Team members have worked on a large number of games including Asheron?s Call, Star Wars Galaxies, Earth and Beyond, Project Entropia, Command and Conquer, Magic and Mayhem, Evolva, Warcraft and more.

MMOsite.com: We can see many different-style architectures in Fury. The game scenes represent a mix of Eastern and Western architectures. Can you tell our audience what were your considerations when you designed the whole world?

Adam Carpenter: When creating the world, the biggest consideration is that we wanted to create something unique. We didn¡¯t want to copy any particular style. We wanted to create a unique Eurasian fusion that anyone could look at and easily identify as being distinctly Fury. We also wanted to be able to create distinct themes and biomes that would really draw players into the game and help to give it meaning.

MMOsite.com: Some gamers may not get used to pure PvP game play. How would you help them get started?

Adam Carpenter: The primary way that players get introduced is via Fury¡¯s initial training. It runs players through the game¡¯s core concepts and helps them learn the controls. Fury¡¯s gameplay is focused so that all game concepts evolve from this core. Once a player has grasped them, they are in good shape to enjoy the game.

Another aspect that will really help is the matchmaking system. Fury¡¯s matchmaking system ensures that players fight against others of equal skill. Newbies fight against newbies, veterans against veterans.  As players improve, they will be matched against more skilled opponents. New players should never end up in a game against opponents who are considerably more advanced.

MMOsite.com: What benefits can players get by beating other gamers, are these benefits random, and how to get the particular items?

Adam Carpenter: Fury is different from other games in that a major portion of the rewards come from playing well, not just from their team winning. In a war zone players can earn gold and equipment; advance their character by completing trials; increase their ladder standings; and more.

Whenever your team kills an enemy, gold is generated and there is a small chance of also receiving a random item. All of the items and gold generated are placed into your team¡¯s coffer. At the end of a match the gold is split evenly between all team members and each player is able to choose up to three items to roll on.

Players are also able to work towards completing trials that unlock higher tiered abilities and toward specific combat achievements such as best archetype, best group and most crystal returns.
Enhanced ladder standings serve as the ultimate combat reward as they provide players with both a visible ranking and with tangible rewards at the end of a week, month and/or season.

MMOsite.com: There are no character classes in Fury, which sounds interesting. Can you reveal more about this?

Adam Carpenter: Fury¡¯s incarnation system is one of the truly unique features of the game. An incarnation is a template that the player creates for their Avatar. Incarnations are a collection of abilities and equipment that are not unlike decks in a collectable card game. Each incarnation has a rank associated with it and the rank determines the number of points available to spend on abilities and equipment.

Anytime before a fight, you are able to switch your Avatar¡¯s incarnation. This means that your avatar is not locked into a rigid class like mage, priest or druid.  Your avatar can be whatever you want.  Also, since you can switch and build new incarnations at any time, you don¡¯t need six or eight different alts.

Removing the necessity for alts really strengthens the game. Fury¡¯s incarnation system allows us to limit an account to only a single character. As such, avatar names are unique across an entire IDC.  This means that you are always known for who you are, not for which alt you are currently playing.
