While new entries are constantly being announced for the casual and hardcore massively multiplayer online (MMO) games market, a new niche is taking shape this year. Two Adults Only (AO)-rated games are entering the subscription videogame space. On the heels of the announcement that San Diego, CA-based adult entertainment company Naughty America is launching its Naughty America: The Game later this year, TLA Entertainment Group will market and distribute Hollywood-based developer Republik Games‘ Spend the Night by Q3 of this year. That means two AO-rated MMO games are heading to the market this year, providing a new adult niche in multiplayer online gaming.
Robert Coshland, CEO, Republik Games, said that Spend the Night will be a "high-end, cutting-edge 3D PC game. The team of 12 that are working on the game are using the Jupiter Engine from Touchstone Entertainment, which is the same technology that powered Buena Vista Games‘ TRON: Killer App (These exclusive screens give you an idea of the graphics.). Coshland previously worked at Buena Vista Games where he serves as executive or senior producer on a number of hit titles The Incredibles, Toy Story 2, A Bug‘s Life, Clue, and Chicken Little.
