Below is the start to RF Online staff‘s day by day diary of their weekend‘s trials and tribulations with the first Rf Online event held at the London Expo.Hope you enjoy it!
Myself, Ed, Sam and Sy arrive at the office, all needing some sweet tender loving bacon sandwiches to prepare us for a long day ahead. With 2 cars to pack up with PC equipment, posters, PA equipment, more posters, leaflets and more posters, we’re going to need all the energy we can get.
Unfortunately at the last minute, my PC supplier let me down, but HM Customs have to take partial blame for that after holding up my much needed (well I needed them) uber rigs with dual SLI nVidia 7800 Gfx cards. Overkill? Well probably, but it would have been nice none the less.
Thanks to our very nice friends at AMD, I managed to get myself some much-needed PC’s for us to run the game at the show. Tooled up with the Athlon 64 bit FX-55 Processors, a gig of RAM and nVidia GF 6600, we had some more then capable machines running the game. They also had a cool aluminium finish to entice the curious gamers over.
Add to that some lovely Creative speakers from L3400 to L3500’s and we had some very chic looking kit on display.
Well with all that confirmed I went down to AMD HQ to grab the equipment and ventured off to London. A journey most dread when travelling by car. Suffice to say, the journey didn’t go to plan as I ingeniously diverted myself away from congestion charge zones and headed around London on the M25. To sum up my journey in a few word, I must have done a full circuit of the M25, double backed on myself 3-4 times and took a most ingenious detour through Greenwich park to get myself across the Thames. A big than you to the postman at Greenwich Post Office for his directions.
So we rolled up to the ExCel centre at around 4pm, six hours after we originally set off. And began setting up the stand.
By about 10pm we were finished, patched up and incredibly hungry and thirsty. Fortunately we found an establishment to quench that thirst.
Ed finds a liking for colourful drinks.
So after a refreshing drink and a meal we decide to call it an early night and prepare for the weekends influx of fans, Cos players and general public.
