We have a chance to chat with Friday Godemorwe, guild leader of Maleficia in Dark and Light about how the guild was formed and how it will be.
About Maleficia
"Guild alligned to the Dark. We value honesty, integrity and supporting each other. We also have both cake AND pie."
Lean: When did the guild start?
Friday Godemorwe: Those of us that founded Maleficia had decided to do so early this summer. Our guild was registered on the Dark and Light official site in September of this year (2005).
Lean: Currently how many members are in your guild?
Friday Godemorwe: 14 members currently, and growing.
Lean: Did the guild play other MMORPGs before? What are they?
Friday Godemorwe: All of ourmembers have played MMORPGs before, including (but not limited to) UO,EQ and EQ2, DOAC, SWG, Linneage 2, WoW...
Lean: What do you think of D&L?
Friday Godemorwe: It seems, at least at this point in time, thatDark and Light will have the features we want in an MMO, but not a lot of the junk we don¡®t want. The territory control aspects, PvP,exploration all sound fantastic.
Lean: Will your guild select dark or light side?
Friday Godemorwe: Dark
Lean: What is your guild¡®s role in D&L? (Combat, Crafting, Political,Exploration)
Friday Godemorwe: I would say the emphasis is on combat, but not exclusively. We have members who plan to develop aspects such as crafting and exploration as much as they develop fighting skills.
Lean: What goal will your guild want to achieve in D&L?
Friday Godemorwe: Our main goal is tohave a guild that works as a tight-knit community, where the members support each other, work together, and where no one feels ignored or left out. Sure we have things we¡®d like to accomplish in-game, but the highest priority is enjoying ourselves.
Lean: Would your guild give out free items to new players?
Friday Godemorwe: If by this you mean a welcoming gift, not so much. This seems difficult to manage and possibly of little value to a new player. If a new member needs help or desperately needs an item of some sort, I¡®m sure we¡®d all pitch in to them them out.
Lean: What do you do, or will you do to encourage guild spirit?
Friday Godemorwe: We communicate. We ask our members to contribute and to give us their honest opinions. We don¡®t tolerate abuse, dishonesty, or drama. And sometimes we dress the clerics up like cheerleaders.
Lean: Any comments?
Friday Godemorwe: Maleficia is an anti-elitist guild. If you think you¡®re better than everyone else, please go join one of those other guilds.
