SpellCasters has been designed to put high
technology and magic together. Unlike some other similar games, SpellCasters
takes you to a world in which Mechanical Creatures, and Mysthical Mages fight.
You can be a member of the Powerful Mutant Race, and achieve victory, you may
chose to be a human being and write spell scrolls for your clan members, or you
can be a merchant moving from one city to another. Here comes Kirill
Soukhostavets, the story writer, and programmer Tolga ?zuygur, from Overdose
Cafein (SpellCasters),let them tell us more about the game.
MMOsite.com:
For the readers who are not familiar with Spellcaters,
how would you summarize the game? Tolga:
Well, the setting is based on mechanics that like to fry mages as meal. Kirill: But mages are not pacifists, so
they melt mechs to make toasters. Tolga:
Actually theres a battle going on between magic and technology.
During this battle you pick a side and fight for it (currently only humans
-magic users- are available). You can become a dragonslayer, a wizard, a
sharpshooter (yes. there is high tech weapons in the game) or anything you want
as the game allows you to become anything you want, there is no preset
classes.
MMOsite.com: Can you give the
readers some details about the storyline behind the game? What role do the
players play to develop the story? Kirill: Players have a huge role in the game. All
their actions have repercautions on the game environment and on the historical
flow of our virtual world. It will take a lot of patience and courage to change
the world, but our game gives the opportunity to achieve any goal
possible. Tolga: You can even
conquer maps!
MMOsite.com: Among the
so many MMOGs out there, Spellcasters is not the best in regard to its graphics.
What differentiates it from other MMOGs and attracts the players
attention? Tolga: It is free. It will be
free. And, we got plenty features that you cant see in any other mmorpg or even
in any other game. Our main goal is the flexibility of the game, i mean you can
build your very own spells, mechs, weapons, armors and items. (Well currently
its limited with spell scrolls and mechs, but the other crafting features will
be added soon). You do not even have a static class in the game, it makes the
game more sophisticated than other similar games. And about our graphics, these
are only the test graphics, we just added new 3d designers to our team Overdose
Cafein and making the plans of our new graphics. Kirill: We try to make the game as realistic as
possible, but keep it in the fantasy mood. So let your imagination flow...
MMOsite.com: You create a game world
blended with magic and mechanism. How did you come up with this idea? Tolga: Theres a lot of Medieval or CyberPunk based
games, but people got bored of both of them... I was working on a medieval
mmorpg project, than i wanted to gather a team and start a new and unique game
development. After we gather the core team, i said lets put those two bad
settings together and make it the worst setting ever. But people loved
it. Kirill: Mixing up technology and magic
creates something impossible. And the main goal of this game is to be able to do
make the impossible real. Tolga:
And slaying dragons with rocket launchers is fun.

MMOsite.com:
Mechs play an important part in the game. For example, players can create
a mechanical creature and there are mechs available as pets. Would you please
tell us what changes have mechs brought to the game? Tolga: Humans stole some technology from Mechanic
Invaders. They learn how to build mech servents that will help them. So you can
make your mech bring you some soda or make it fight against monsters by adding
him some nice weaponary. Kirill:
So basicly it made your life easier by doing your chores. Tolga: They are just a part of our
incoming pet system with summons, mercenaries, mechanical servents and
so...
MMOsite.com: In Spellcasters,
player characters may die permanently. What is this setting for? Tolga: No one dies permanently. You just lose some
xp, drop gold or item but you resurrect back at Elven Forest. But if you want
this feature this much, I can add a permanent death for your character.
^_^
MMOsite.com: Can you tell us more
information about the races in the game? Kirill: Well we have 3 races. First, and well
known is human. Humans are the most popular for now (because while in beta, it
is the only one available for the moment). A human being posseses a balanced
physical and mental development. Then we have cyborgs and invaders (aliens).
Cyborg is mostly a mechanical creature who posses A.I. (artificial intelligence)
and is closely related to the mech world. Tolga: Yeah we are adding some sci-fi too, soon
aliens will invade the world. Kirill: Small green creatures guarded by biiiiiig
monsters.
MMOsite.com: How do you
embody the art of teamwork and how does the PvP system work? Tolga: There is a group system in the game, you
can group up to 6 people. The experience you gain divides to each other in the
group and lets you level faster, so grouping is important. Grouping is
especially required for boss raids, killing a boss is nearly impossible by your
own. About our PvP system, its pretty different than the other games. You can
attack anyone, anywhere (except newbie areas). You can even attack someone in a
city, but you must be aware of the city guards that hunts people who make
trouble (we got some roleplay features in the game). For a safe pvp (with no
item, xp loss) you gotta fight at Death Match arenas at North Castle. You can
fight there for gold and reputation with no fear of losing anything. And we got
big battles each saturday, battles between evil and good clans, if you enjoy
massive PvP you gotta join them.
MMOsite.com:
What kind of player economy can we expect to see in
Spellcasters? Tolga: For now there is a
"kill to win" setting. But soon it will change with new crafting and similar
skills to earn money. And we are still working on fresh ideas to improve the
money flow between players.
MMOsite.com:
Any final words for our readers? Tolga: Go to http://www.thelastmage.com and play
