Snail Games really have deep pockets as they ask Jet Li to endorse their martial art MMO Age of Wushu. The fact is, the company does spend a lot of money on marketing. In China alone, Snail Games team up with Shaolin to promote the game, and they hold series events to let gamers know their game. It seems that the company's cost is worthwhile and their efforts got returns - in the first 12 hours after the open beta launch in China, Age of Wushu sold $215,000 worth of in-game items.
According to the developer, another 500,000 players joined the game after the start of OBT. Currently, the game has more than 20 million registered players in China. The most anticipated MMO in China has been confirmed for NA, EU and SEA markets.
The Chinese open beta is in fact the final closed beta but players don't need beta keys or invites to play the game, and what's more, there will be no data wipe. If you want to try out the Chinese version, you can check out the Age of Wushu (CN) website.
