Maestia: Rise of Keledus is an upcoming free-to-play MMORPG from Gravity Interactive, the developer of Ragnarok Online and Dragon Saga. The game, which revolves around a man named Keledus and his descent into power-hungry corruption, is set for launch in summer of 2012. Maestia poses one simple question to brave adventurers: Do you have what it takes to save a world on the brink?

We sat down with the game’s developer in order to get a better idea of what the game had to offer MMO fans.

Answers by Cho Eun Sang, Producer:

What makes Maestia different from other MMOs?
The most stand out features for Maestia will be Maestone system and the Mercenary system. We also think players will find some satisfaction in specially designed maps where it provides both PvP and PvE environments as well as day & night variant.

What sort of combat can players expect?
Maestia is generally separated by day & night time zones. You can enter the night time zones through an altar. You can then participate in PvP with the opposing faction. We also have a small sized battle arenas and RvR so there is something for everyone in Maestia.

What exactly is the Advanced Mercenary system, and how does it work?
The mercenary system allows the player to call for help if they encounter difficult challenges during dungeon play or hunting monsters. You can also register your character as a mercenary when you are not playing so it’ll continue to accrue experience points.

Can you give us some details on in-game crafting professions?
Maestia actually does not restrict any item forging to a specific job. All characters can master skills and pick a weapon, armor or an accessory to forge. Once the skill is mastered, players can create items with unique properties and can also learn skills to add Masestone sockets to the items as well.

What is the story backdrop for Maestia?
The story starts off with Keledus, a man with lust for power and greed, killing Ia, the divine goddess. Humans called this day Maestia and have taken refuge at the city of Superion where they hope to fight off Keledus and his ambition to take over the entire continent. More lore will be revealed on our website at www.playmaestia.com in the future.

Maestia is free-to-play—will there be a cash shop or microtransactions?
The game will be published through a micro transaction mode. However, we will not be forcing items sales for short term benefit. We will take balance into consideration and sell items that make sense for all players.

Will you be offering players a chance to beta test the game?
The story starts off with Keledus, a man with lust for power and greed, killing Ia, the divine goddess. Humans called this day Maestia and have taken refuge at the city of Superion where they hope to fight off Keledus and his ambition to take over the entire continent. More lore will be revealed on our website at www.playmaestia.com in the future.

What is your studio’s experience in the MMO/F2P realm?
This is our company’s first game. But our members are comprised of industry veterans and have shipped free to play games.

Which classes will be available for players at launch?
There are total of 4 classes for Maestia. A warrior class which is for melee combat and a tank, a Ranger class which specializes in range attacks, a Wizard class for using elemental magic attacks and a Priest class which is your main healer.

Maestia has many of the same features players have come to expect from paid MMOs: Instanced dungeons, cool mounts and a variety of character customization options and specializations. The game will also boast PVP combat, story-driven quest lines and frequent content updates.

Look for Maestia: Rise of Keledus later this summer.
