Fans who are waiting for Torchlight 2 may need to wait a little longer. Runic Games president Travis Baldree wrote in the official site that "we've come to the realization, however, that getting a game of this scope up to the quality and polish level we want to achieve is going to take a little longer; especially since we want to run a small beta before release to ensure that our launch is smooth."

That means you won't be able play Torchlight 2 this year. Baldree said that when the original Torchlight was released, they didn't have the resources to take care of "the plenty of issues that a little more development could have resolved." However, now Runic Games have those resources for the sequel, and the developer thinks that they should make a better game. "We feel strongly that we should apply them to make this the best game we can make and hopefully one that you'll enjoy and continue to want to play in the future", according to Baldree.
Baldree also mentioned the latest titles such as Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, etc. "Those are awesome games," said Baldree, "when Torchlight 2 goes live, we want it to be awesome too - all the way through."
As for Torchilight MMO, it's scheduled for late 2012 or early 2013 release, according to Kelvin Lau, CFO of Perfect World Entertainment.
