John Staats personally comfirmed that he had been laid off by Blizzard, although the reason wasn't mentioned. Mean while, Blizzard's Bashiok denied the "massive layoffs at Blizzard" rumor spread on the World of Warcraft forums.
A rumor comes out from Massively that John Staats, the senior level designer of the company's next big MMO Titan, has been served his walking papers. Staats has worked for Blizzard for more than ten years. As one of the MMORPG's finest designers, he involved in all the raid dungeons, Blackrock Mountain and Booty Bay and was described as a "hero of the WoW dev team".
There is not a compelling explanation for the rumor source. Staats's public LinkedIn profile still lists him as a senior level designer at BlizzardBlizzard didn't make any announcement at Blizzcon of this year. If it was real, it might have an impact on Titan's development.
