It's obvious that EA is eager to beat Call of Duty, however, it's still ugly that they took fire for trying to manipulate Battlefield 3 review scores. According to Norway's top news outlet, NRK, EA has withheld review copies of Battlefield 3 to reviewers whom they thought would give the game a bad score. A number of Norwegian gaming outlets, including popular ones like Gamer.no and GameReactor, have been refused review copies of Battlefield 3 due to their review scores of past Battlefield games.

The questionnaire that EA sent to media seems innocuous at first glance. But EA can handle the access to Battlefield 3 review copies. "This is an obvious attempt to manipulate the media," reviewer Jon Cato Lorentzen told NRK, adding that it gives EA the power to "withdraw exclusivity if they are not happy with the choice of reviewer."
EA Norway marketing manager Oliver Sveen came out to acknowledge the mistake and said "It is a human error that was sent out. We have made a mistake and we apologize. It is not something that should have happened earlier or [that] we intend to continue."
