Although players didn't see too many about CS: Global Offensive at GamesCom 2011, they heard some fantastic concepts from Valve's boss Gabe Newell, who revealed an ambitious plan for the new CS game, that allows gamers from different platforms to play together. So, PC vs PS3 vs Xbox 360 - will that work? Is that the future of gaming?

CS: Global Offensive

Gamers of a game should be in one community, despite the platforms they are using, as Newell talked about CS: Global Offensive in a video interview with PC, "our view is players should be able to play as part of a community on whatever device they can" and "that's certainly our goal." No doubt that it will be a tough job if Valve really wants to do that. Newell pointed out "you know, sometimes there are contractual, or other issues that make that hard, where somebody, a platform holder doesn’t want you to do that for whatever reason, but our preference is always to let customers play and be part of the larger community."

Portal 2 on PS3 is a good example - Valve had worked with Sony before to let PS3 users to play and chat with PC gamers. But even Valve can make cross-platform gaming on CS: Global Offensive come true, there is still a big problem for the competitive games like CS, where PC gamers will enjoy an advantage in aiming.

CS: Global Offensive is scheduled to release in 2012 while the game will offer a playable demo at PAX Prime (August 26 to 28).
