Hellgate: Up or Down, This Game Is Half Good and Half Bad

Hey guys, I am going to be honest in this article, a few days ago I noticed that a lot of people around mmosite and all over the net is talking about the new Hellgate resurrection game. It's more like Hellgate re-release, that's right, just like APB Reloaded.

Everyone is talking about this game, posting the news about the events or about what is going on in the beta, some others are already reviewing the beta, all this media talk about this game and the fact that the new iteration of Hellgate is Free 2 Play are solid reasons for me to try the game. After all is free lol!

Ok so here is when things got a bit more complicated and unfortunately sad, I downloaded the game and installed it, I don't know why but clicking the options button crash the launcher and no text shows up in the game launcher at all, regardless, I smash the Start. For my surprise the server were down at the moment of login in for the first time, I had no other choice but to wait... Wait until the servers get back up. So I did.

After login in I notice the horrendous quality of the intro cinematic, I don't know what is going on here but the youtube version of this video looks a lot better. This low quality video is probably one of the most offensive things that a game developer can do, especially when you can get a better version of the same video elsewhere. At least the file that we need to download to get the game is smaller. I guess...

I also notice that the game have an extra security measure, you must enter a number code, the idea is that you only know that code and the game will ask for it periodically as you play day by day. The code can only by entered with the mouse and you have to click on some numbers that ironically are not in the same place every time, I don't know if this security check is going to make the game safer or not but I am going to spit it out. THIS FEATURE IS ANNOYING AS HELL! My code number is 1234, now go there and see if you can do something without the password lol! I guess you peeps get the point, without the password you cannot do anything, without this code a hacker won't be able to do much either, but it's better to keep the password safe all time no matter if they have a sub-password or code in the game.

OK, after struggling to get into the game I finally got into the character creator and in consequence I got into the real game! At last!

The first thing I notice was the graphics, the textures are clear and the models look good but at the same time the game also lacks in certain gfx aspects, the explosions from the barrels are weak and shallow, the shooting doesn't have any kind of beef or hump and the animations are bad. I don't even know if they are worst than the ones made by Bethesda but they are not good, some of them are simply missing. Another thing I notice is that the general screen lacks a camera connection, there is little to no shacking and you rarely see any full screen effect that gets you deeper into the game.

Short and simple, the gfx are half good and bad... If you are a graphics stug then I suggest to wait until the new developers fix the gfxs or simply move along, visually the game is a bit disjointed.
