Final Fantasy XIV continues to lose players and now SE's CEO Yoichi Wada admits that the game is unsatisfactory and they are losing players' trust. But Yoichi Wada quotes the sales volume to tell people that FFXIV isn't a failure and the PS3 version will release in March of 2011 as the plan and he thinks that FFXIV can regain players' trust and make salvation, but how? They've extended the free trial and even provided free-to-play version in the internet cafes in Japan, and they've released several patches but looking from the picture below, players just left.
It seems that the quality of FFXI has become Yoichi Wada's life-saving straw. In his address he declares that FFXIV substantially inherits the core of FFXI, which is one of the most enjoyable MMORPGs, and many FFXIV players are from FFXI. He points out that the game has sold 630,000 copies since launch(190,000 in Japan, 210,000 in the US and 230,000 in the EU), it's really something that SE can be proud of and the only thing they can be proud of.
SE just lowered its earnings forecast for the first fiscal year (from April 1st, 2010 to September 30th, 2010). The company's net income in this period was lowered from about $30 million to $21 million. But they didn't make any change to the second fiscal year which starts from September 30th, 2010(the date FFXIV was released) to March 31st.
