  • Summary: Halloween is here and lots of events have been kicked off as well. As an MMO gamer, I can join the celebrations and events in the games, but as a horror game fan I will ask, where are those real scary MMOs? The only 2 games that come to my mind are Requiem: Bloodmare and Dead Frontier.

Halloween is here and lots of events have been kicked off as well. As an MMO gamer, I can join the celebrations and events in the games, but as a horror game fan I will ask, where are those real scary MMOs? The only 2 games that come to my mind are Requiem: Bloodmare and Dead Frontier. The former one's selling point is it allows you to transform to ferocious creature and reorganize your DNA, but the story and the world isn't that in-depth. The later one is a 3D zombie-shooting MMO that can remind you of those classic fast-pace shooters. But since it's a browser-based game, the developer isn't able to make it a "big" game.

So, is there a really awesome horror MMO around? Perhaps no at present, but I smell several in the future, hopefully in next 2 years, that could give the MMO market a shock.

World of Darkness MMO (release: 2012 at the earliest)

Vampire: The Masquerade is White Wolf's award-winning RPG which is based on World of Darkness setting and centered on vampires in a modern Gothic-Punk world. CCP and White Wolf Merged in 2006 and a World of Darkness MMO was said to be made, but nothing was announced until this year. At September's Grand Masquerade convention in New Orleans, CCP finally confirmed World of Darkness MMO (but not confirmed the final name) and it's reported that it will release in 2012 at the earliest.

World of Darkness MMO

World of Darkness will be set in Vampire: The Masquerade's setting and will have a focus on player politics and social interaction. We don't have more details but a camera-recorded video for the game. And according to Ardwulfslair, 3 terms are mentioned for the game: "Sandbox", "Theme park', and "Coffee Shop". So a vampire MMO, whether it's scary or not, it will really be one of the best game to play in Halloween.
