In fact Turbine doesn't carry out the traditional F2P mode for DDO and LOTRO, it's actually a hybrid mode that both F2P and subscription options are available for players. According to Turbine, their paid subscribers didn't reduce after the switchover, and DDO's paid subscribers even got doubled.
