V is happy that he took up writing again, something he had dreamed of doing ever since he was nine years old. Being a nonconforming combination of a social party animal and a gamer, he realized that his life amounted not to just games and women, but that he had to pursue his passions and self-development in other areas as well.

With the online games market being at its busiest, we are faced with a selection of an astonishing number of MMOs scheduled for release. Perpetuum Online

I really enjoy reading about the crazy shenanigans that go on in the world of EVE Online. However, as much as I am excited about these stories of deceit, tactics and alliances, I could never force myself to plow through the more dull parts of the game in order to get involved in this player driven world. If you are like me, then Perpetuum might just be the right answer.

* Whats the potential?

Perpetuum combines the philosophy behind an open world game where you can go anywhere and do anything you want, with heavy mech action that aims to thrill. We are promised a persistent universe where everything is hosted on a single server, a player-driven and controlled economy and real-time combat. Progression in the game is similar to the time-based system used in EVE where you can train your skills even while you are logged off. In addition, players can change the terrain around them, be it for agricultural (mining resources) or military (building cover) uses. Dynamically changing vegetation is also in the works where the parameters of plants and crops can be influenced by the players.

The game is currently undergoing beta and applications are accepted on their website. Will Perpetuum be able to develop its own unique feel and offer a measurable experience against a game that it borrows heavily from? Time will tell but for now, we will follow it with anticipation.
