Let me tell you a secret, Arenanet wants to sell the Ranger well, check out the first paragraph in the recent gw2 website preview...

The ranger is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of them all as well, relying on his keen eye, steady hand, or the power of nature itself. A master of ranged combat, the ranger is capable of striking unwitting foes from a distance with his bow. With a stable of pets at his command, a ranger can adapt to his opponents' strengths and weaknesses.

If you ask me, I will say that this sounds like the mother of all Over Power classes, of course I doubt that Arenanet is fool enough to create a whole all mighty class that can master everything at all, and leave everybody else looking stupid, but since the class is really cool, they pulled this promotional stunt.

For the sake of sanity let me keep this simply, I am already sparking flaming arrows out of my head with this…

This new class have some traits from the previous Guild Wars 1 Ranger, but it got some new features, also it got some old ones tuned up for the new gameplay style of Guild Wars 2…

Traps!

Let me start with the traps, from what I manage to dig up, the traps are pretty much straight forward as they were in Guild Wars 1, you put the trap, stay around and if someone is unfortunate enough to step above one of them… BOOM!! The trap triggers and all sort of unlucky stuff is going to happened to this player or mob… This is awesome if you ask me, as I used to trap some special places in Guild Wars 1, like the portal exits! So mean, I know!

The trick was to pick some skills to speed up the cooldown of traps and had in my skill bar like 4 damage dealing traps, crippling traps and all sort of trap you can imagine, with a shorter cooldown I was able to spawn tons of traps in the portal exit… Killing some people instantly after they port out... Same with the Zaishen Elite trapper group...
