  • Summary: Recently, Japanese AIKA has updated its instances by adding an auto-adjustment system. Since then, an instance can adjust its difficulty automatically based on the number of challengers. It can be said that the biggest advantage of this system is that solo players are allowed to enjoy challenging instances alone. Nevertheless, some players question this system. They think it may discourage those players who prefer challenging their limits.

In the last update, a great improvement has also been made on instances. That is if a team contains all classes of the game, all team members will gain extra group rewards if only they pass the instance. After this update, the system can automatically figure out the number of team members and modify the strength of instance monsters and Exp reward accordingly. Generally, such a change lowers the threshold for instances so as to satisfy players fully and attract more users. Nevertheless, some players question this system. They think it may discourage those players who prefer challenging their limits. For example, certain players would like to go through normal instances with fewer people when their equipment has reached a high level. While some expressed the essence of instances is teamwork and consciousness, so it will be boring to experience an instance with a few people.

Currently, this system has only been applied to the Japanese version of AIKA and it's not certain whether it'll be applied to the English version as well. Other MMOs don't have such setting. As a rule, if this system is accepted widely, it may be transplanted to the English version or other games in the future.

As a matter of fact, some players did put forward a similar suggestion that instances should adjust the difficulty in accordance with the equipment level of the whole team instead of the number of team members. A team with poor equipment could challenge comparatively easy high-end instances. However, it was considered unfair for high-end groups. In this way, the high-end instances would become meaningless even though the quality of dropped equipment would change according to the overall level of the team.
