30,000 Aion(CN) Players Protest Bots Led to Servers Down

If a game has too many bots the game will probably die; if a game allows bots it will definitely die, that's the situation in Aion(CN). Yesterday, more than thirty thousand furious Chinese Aion players gathered in several servers to protest using bots, moreover, to protest the publisher's attitude which breeds bot use. With countless players joining in, some servers were overloaded and then brought down.

Aion is a heavily grinding MMORPG and this fact breeds many bots for leveling. Aion is also a PvP-oriented MMORPG and it brings many bots to make you invincible. No matter what's your attitude towards using bots is, it's unfair for those who don't use. Yesterday, players created tons of new characters and gathered in the beginner's village as planned, their names are all about "no bots," "fair play," and their slogan is "give my fellows back"(because many people left the game filled with bots). Later, some servers couldn't hold on anymore and were down, it looks like the players won the first battle. In order to calm the players down, GMs brought several Grand Chieftain Saendukals(boss of the game) to the beginner's village, trying to dispel the crowd but failed; on the other hand, the publisher Shanda Interactive Entertainment promised to fight against bots, now the players won the second battle. Who will be the final winner, nobody can tell so far.
