A rating organization assigned by the China Youth Internet Association (CYIA) has recently rated WoW "adults-only", according to related standards set by the Association. It's recommended that only those older than senior high school students, i.e. the adults, play this game.
In most tests no matter related to violence degree, gaming time, currency or publicity, the authorities agreed that WoW could be rated as a game suitable for those older than junior high school students. But due to the in-game erotic content, horrifying scenes and PK settings, WoW is finally listed among the adults-only games.

The authority's description about WoW's erotic content:
There's basically no erotic or sexual content in the game. But the in-game characters are allowed to take off their clothes. Specifically, the male characters can wear only briefs, while the female characters only bras and panties.
Take the female character belonging to the Night Elf race as an example! The dancing female in underwear brings a strong flirtatious feel.
Thus, the game's erotic content is temporarily rated: 3.
Suggestion: Since whether players take off their characters' clothes has not much to do with the general game content and the gameplay, it's recommended that the game settings be changed and forbid the players to take off their characters' original clothes. If related adjustments are made, the degree in this respect can be changed to: 1.
Player's Comment: I'd better take my ID card along with me if I want to bask in the sun on the beach in summer, since all those below 18 are forbidden. And when bathing, I should also wear sun glasses lest I see some "unhealthy" scenes…

Horror Degree: 1
There's a small amount of horrifying scenes, background music & sounds and character designs in the game.
In WoW, some NPCs are named "zombies" or "souls", especially in some tribes and factions. And a very small amount of skeletons that don't seem like human exist in certain scenes.
What's more, compared to the European and American versions, the current Chinese WoW: The Burning Crusade has removed and modified many horrifying scenes and quests.
Thus, the game's horror degree is temporarily rated: 1.

With respect to the PK settings, the authority thinks that the PvP mode in WoW is a typical vehicle for encouraging players to conduct PvP combats. In Chinese WoW: The Burning Crusade, the ratio of PvP servers to PvE servers is 328:36, so the rating is subject to the test results achieved on the PvP servers.
Thus, the game's PK content is temporarily rated: 2.
