JAMES CAMERON'S AVATAR has become one of those movies that will be always remembered for many things like: its Amazing visuals, a great plot which features an non-ending battle between two races, terrific graphics that mixes 3D environments and characters with real actors, great sound quality, etc. As a result of this great mix, this movie has received many Oscar nominations, being one of the most high –grossing movies in our century. However, can we imagine what will happen if a company decides to develop a MMORPG based on this great movie? Actually, many people which are fans of the film has considered that it would be a good idea to develop an Avatar based MMORPG since the movie's plot would perfectly fit with an online game, otherwise there are people that think it would fail and that's why it must only be a movie. However, even if we are Avatar fans or not, but we watched the film, we will find out that it has great elements for being a MMORPG. One of them can be found in the movies story. Since, the war between Humans and Aliens would be a tempting idea that might perfectly work out in an original story. Next, we will find the characters and races which are the complement for an Avatar MMORPG, but the question is: would anyone be interested to play as a blue alien race since? (There's no doubt fans would not give a No to this).

Aren't navies beautiful? this picture shows us how great the James
Cameron's Avatar visuals are.
Naturally, many of us would love to play an avatar MMORPG since it would be great to see another movie based MMORPG in the market. Unfortunately, the chances for avatar to be developed as a MMORPG are probably fading away, after the sales of its console game version are not what the company which developed it, was expecting ; plus the fact that not many movie based MMORPGS have survived through the years are the main reasons which might kill this idea. Therefore, it's understandable that few gaming companies would be interested in a project like this. On the other hand, there is a movie based MMORPG which has been in the gaming market for many years, that's The Lord of the Rings. Being, the unique movie based MMORPG that has survived in the gaming scene for years, since The Matrix (another movie based MMORPG) stopped it's gaming services. In comparison, both had their own features and were good enough to catch anyone's attention for a while. Unluckily, things didn't go well for the Matrix, since it started to lack of players and after some time, the company which hosted it, decided to shut it down. Now, The Lord of the rings remains as the only movie based MMORPG that it's been successful through many years. Now, these are some negative facts about developing a movie based MMORPG, since many of them already failed and were shut down. Anyways, let's have a look to a small description of how an avatar MMORPG would look like if it was real.

After making small descriptions about MMORPGS based on specific movies, let's have an idea of how avatar MMORPG would be if it was developed or in the road to be released. Evidently, many fanatics would dream with one, even when the whole idea of the console game has totally failed in sales. Now, let's get started:
First, our MMORPG story must be based on the movie ; so this means , we will have this non-ending battle featuring human versus the well-known alien tribe called ‘ Na'vi ‘. This means it will be important for the MMORPG to keep at least the some elements of the original story. Second, we will have to think in a good way of making characters with special abilities and customization, this implies the inclusion of two races (The Na'vi and Human), and special classes available for each race. Lastly, we can't forget the that the game must be in 3D, since it'd lose the essence of the movie if it's developed in a 2D style , also the environments must be well designed since they will have an important role in our MMORPG. As a result, we will have a good MMORPG, which will be enjoyed for millions of fanatics and gamers ( it's obviously, these descriptions might take years of development for a company, but it's just an idea, right? ).
