If You Were A DeveloperBy Daniel OwensTo better my writing skills and establish a presence in the MMO gaming community are the passions that bring me here, I enjoy writing about new and upcoming MMO's. My goal is to bring to the reader as many promising MMO's as I can find. Offering insight and advice on what's worth playing. |

I have been solo developing a single player RPG for some time now, but let's just say I had a team of coding minions and a huge budget to blow. The MMO market for a long time has been victim of the same tired, button mashing content. If I were to develop an MMO, sure it would have some features similar to other MMO's across the market, but this is how I would do it.
Setting
I have always been a fan of the traditional SNES JRPG's because it reminds me of a time when RPG games had epic stories and elaborate fantasy worlds. The time where games would have you glued to the screen for several days without sleep, and you couldn't wait a minute longer to get home from school to keep attempting that final boss.
As a fan of fantasy RPG's my game would be set within a medieval world of magic and swords, I wouldn't have it any other way. Based over several kingdoms and continents, there would be enough room to introduce player cities, towns and outposts, but more on that later.

Character Development
Customisation is a key factor of RPG's both offline and online these days, and with the systems currently available there is almost no limit to what your character can look like. My game would feature similar customisation to Everquest 2, Aion and Oblivion, right down to giving your character a funny nose.
Allowing such advanced customisation will ensure that even if a player has the same gear as another, they will still look completely different. It would consist of a wide range of hairstyles from many different cultures, to allow everyone a style that suits them. Also what I would like to see more is tattoos, and a lot of them.
