XL Games which was established by Jake Song, the key developer of Lineage, has used CryEngine2 to develop its new MMORPG X2 (originally codenamed Project X2) since three years ago. Recently, it's reported that X2 is planning to launch its first closed beta test in Korea next June.

According to insider, X2 invited Jeon Minhi (transliterated), a famous Korean writer, to write background story at the early stage of development, hoping that players will be able to experience its interesting story even in the high freedom gaming world. XL Games hopes to showcase the excellent talent of Jake Song via this highly-anticipated masterpiece.

X2 is scheduled to launch in Korea first, and then distribute to other countries. Recently, XL Games signed distribution agreement with Japan-based GameOn, and X2 is slated for overseas release in 2010.
