Just as the various game producers tried their best to attend G-Star 2009 with their best performance, a piece of news arose in South Korea's game industry recently: due to the serious lack of money, Vgames gave up the development of Robot Taekwon V Online, an online game adapted from the Korea-made robot-themed animated film - Robot Taekwon V, early this year.

Development of the MMORPG by use of independently developed engine was given up.

Vgames, which started to develop Robot Taekwon V Online in Nov., 2006 for the sake of its 30th anniversary, announced the game early this year, but the game's development schedule was delayed and some employees also began to quit - Vgames got into trouble!

An employee from Vgames who's unwilling to disclose his name said that the development of Vgames' new project Robot Taekwon V Online was actually discontinued in early 2009. And Vgames is now trying to develop other new projects with its company renamed.

Driven by the developers from Webzen, Vgames that originally planned to develop Robot Taekwon V Online as an MMORPG with the application of its independently developed "V Engine", once made great efforts to achieve something like the seamless mode which will make the loading between maps unnecessary.

Sonov is likely to take over the game's development.

Though Vgames has given up the development of Robot Taekwon V Online, it is not quite the end of the game, since Sonov, a branch of Sonokong, has signed certain license agreements concerning the films, toys and publication related to Robot Taekwon V.

According to someone from Sonov, Sonov does have signed related license agreements regarding Robot Taekwon V, but no detailed plan for the online game's development has been made till now. He said that the result would come out after their further discussion.

NHN Hangame, has also got ready for the online version of Robot Taekwon V. iDoGame, a game development platform offered by NHN, will also take Robot Taekwon V as the theme and support all those amateur game developers.

To support the amateurs' game development, NHN has also unveiled the characters and graphic codes featured in the original Robot Taekwon V. And to commemorate this, by Jan., 2010, NHN will select the "Best Robot Taekwon V Online" each month and grant the amateur developers a total of 1 million wons.
