9 Days! We Lost Our Game Data in Hellgate: London

With lost items unable to be recovered, the official has decided to roll back data

On Nov. 10, Korea-based HanbitSoft announced on its official site that all the game data of Hellgate: London had to be rolled back to Nov. 3 due to its failed attempt to recover the lost items.

With the data reversion this time and the scheduled maintenance of the Korean Hellate: London on Nov. 12, all the game data recorded between Nov. 3 and Nov. 12 will be removed. That is, all players' data within the 9 days will disappear unfortunately. In some degrees, the reversion can be said to have been announced beforehand.

According to HanbitSoft, with the North American version of server, it is somewhat difficult for the items to be recovered. And the paying accounts that have played the game within the 9 days will receive extra 18-day game play time.

Players feel indignant about the sudden announcement of data reversion.

HanbitSoft announced on Nov. 5 that some in-game items of Korean Hellgate: London were found lost after a regular update on Nov. 3, and promised to fix this bug in the next maintenance. This made players believe that the bug would surely be fixed then and continue to enjoy the game.

However, HanbitSoft told players on Nov. 10 that all the data had to be reverted to Nov. 3 since they failed to recover the lost items, which aroused the anger of players.

Now, the official forum of the Korean Hellgate: London is troubled with countless vituperative posts, basically saying that the official didn't remind players of the potential risk of data reversion in advance and caused a waste of time. Players insist that the official should have informed them of the possibility of data reversion beforehand and persuaded them not to play till related measures are taken.

Some players even say that they will bring this case to the association of consumers, while some suggest the official give back their money. The Korean Hellgate: London is operated at a monthly subscription fee of 9,900 Wons (about US$8.5).

Additionally, HanbitSoft is to hold a creation report meeting for Hellgate: London on Nov. 12, where journalists and players will also be invited to introduce the game's future.
