TOKYO - In a move to promote serious study of Japanese manga, a university in Tokyo plans to open a academic library with more than two million comic books, animation drawings, video games and other cartoon industry artifacts, dating back to before World War II.

"Great!" There may be a lot of animation fans who will get so excited like me after reading this piece of news. Japan's always been the leader in the animation industry. Its cartoon series and video games have caught the eyes of numerous people all around the world. The library to be set up will certainly benefit all the cartoon fans. However, does the act in Japan's educational field also show us that Japan is preparing to intensify its overlordship in the animation industry? Sometimes, we may think that compared with Japan's booming cartoons and console games, online games there are really disappointing to some extent. When seeing so many typical Japan-made cartoons even console games adapted to online games by other countries, Japan must also feel sad. Who can bear to be taken advantage of? But for players, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Does Japan just want to free itself from the dilemma through such act?

Now, let's recollect some of the typical Japan-made works that have been adapted by other countries.

First is Dragon Ball, which I like very much and is really the most typical Japanese comic book. Though it's Japan that adapted this comic book to a console game, CJ Internet from South Korea is just the one licensed to develop its online version. This must have had the Japanese animation fans and the online gamers depressed and curious about the development result that the South Korean company would present. This year, Dragon Ball Online having being developed silently was finally made public. The launch of the Teaser site, as well a series of magnificent tests have brought Dragon Ball Online players' enthusiasm and concern to the highest point. And those having no chance to try out this game can only satisfy themselves by reading some game related reports. However, from the unveiled screenshots and videos, we can still feel that the game's somewhat disappointing. Though the game's developed under the supervision of Toriyama Akira, it still cannot compete with the original comic book.
