[Interview] Section 8 Maybe a Console MMO

Recently we got a chance to face the developer of Section 8. We talk about the story behind the combat both in MMO version and Single Version. When talk about the aim of Section 8's development, they told us that Section 8 was born for shaking-up the norm of typical FPS game.

We took a critical look at the other shooters on the market and tried to expand upon what we liked about them and eliminate what we did not like while we were developing Section 8.

Will Section 8 MMO Version appear in other platforms such as PS3/Xbox360? Maybe. If players have a will, that will come ture in near future. That is, Timegate also have a plan. So everything depends on fans' choice.

...so we definitely hope to revisit the universe sometime in the near future.

The Interview:

Your team has recently released a video related to the storyline of Section 8. And I’m really impressed by the words featured at the end of the video. That is, “we are the first to jump, we are the first to fight, we are the first to die, we are Section 8”. But the only thing depressing me is that the story told in the video is a little short. I’m really thirst for more details. Would you unveil more for us?

The main conflict in Section 8 is between two factions—the 8th Armored Infantry (nicknamed “Section 8” after an old military regulation for reason of being mentally unfit because they willingly commit to missions deemed “insane” by all other military units) and the Arm of Orion. Section 8 takes place in the future when humans have begun colonizing the far reaches of the galaxy. As colonization expands, small splinter groups begin emerging demanding greater autonomy or even independence from Earth’s main governing body. One such group is the Arm of Orion and the United States Imperial Forces (USIF) is sent in to some of the outermost colonies in the galaxy to quell the resistance.

The single-player story mode, called “Corde’s Story”, puts players in the powered armor boots of Alex Corde, the newest addition to the 8th Armored Infantry. This game mode not only introduces the player to the world of Section 8, but it also details some of the background of the conflict between the 8th Armored Infantry and the Arm of Orion. We won’t spoil any more surprises, but the Arm of Orion definitely have some tricks up their sleeve.
