To Enter Chinese Market, FFXIV May Adopt Mixed Server Mode

Last week, we posted a rumor which said Final Fantasy XIV may choose a partner to enter Chinese MMO market (Read full). And today, news from NSJ proved FFXIV's ambition in China.

Because Chinese government doesn’t allow foreign companies to run games directly, entering China means mixed server mode has to be adopted and Square Enix may have to set a server for China only besides their FFXIV global server. Mixed server mode like this was once adopted by EVE Online, but they failed. Someone guesses that Square Enix may be aiming for outstanding achievement in China. Once FFXIV enters China, millions of registers may be at its fingertips. It’s worth the risk.

And according to another report - http://jp.reuters.com/article/topNews/idJPJAPAN-11688220090928 yesterday, Yoichi Wada said they will spend 1-2 years to set a partership with Chinese company and they have already got in touch with some game publishers.
If Final Fantasy XIV finally succeeds in Mixed Server plan, WoW may face a new competitor. I vote for Final Fantasy XIV for its real MMO gameplay and fantastic graphic.
