Instead of looking at quests by zone, we're going to take a moment and look at them by faction this time. For our first faction let us direct our attention to the Kalu'ak. The tuskarr are a gentle people unless you're a fish or whale. These walrus type people are known for their superior fishing skill and are no strangers to fighting against enemy invasions.
When you first arrive in Northrend you'll meet tuskarr in either Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord. In Borean Tundra you will come across their camp of Kaskala (although Unu'pe is where the flight path and boat are located). In Howling Fjord you'll find their camp called Kamagu. Raising your faction with the Kalu'ak will afford you access to their quartermasters. One is located in Kamagu, Howling Fjord and the other in Moa'ki Harbor, Dragonblight. These quartermasters have a number of blue goods; however, the only purple quality item is a Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. At exalted reputation you can also pick up your very own pet penguin if you wish.
Since the Kalu'ak are a neutral race, both factions complete quests for them. Oftentimes, both factions complete the same quests. To become exalted with the Kalu'ak you will have to complete the dailies offered in their main camps. There are three dailies that, in total, offer 1500 reputation per day. If you want that fishing pole or the vanity pet penguin you will have to complete at least one daily each day to grind reputation for the group.
Daily Quests
These quests can be completed once per day. To become exalted with the Kalu'ak you will need to complete at least one of these per day for quite some time. A good estimate is that after completing the once-only quests you will do all three dailies for the Kalu'ak for almost two weeks (12-14 days) to become exalted.
Quest: Preparing for the Worst
Rewards: You will receive over 20 thousand experience, 5 gold, and 500 reputation.
Description: Utaik of Kaskala, Borean Tundra needs you to gather supplies from the shore. The supplies are along the coast south of Kaskala. You can find them all along that area inside of buildings, on the ground, and so on. You might have to brave though a few small fights since there are raiders arriving by ship. For the most part they will be distracted by friendly tuskarr, although some might attack you. Collecting supplies for a walrus man might not be the most exciting thing you do, but you will need to do it to become exalted with the Kalu'ak.
Note: This is a simple task that can usually be completed without incident. You only need eight crates of supplies. If there are several people collecting the supplies at the same time as you, just move along the shore and you'll definitely find more. The respawn is very quick on these supplies.
Quest: Planning for the Future
Rewards: You will receive over 20 thousand experience, 5 gold, and 500 reputation.
Description: Trapper Mau'i of Moa'ki Harbor, Dragonblight needs you to gather Snowfall Glade puppies from the aggressive wolvar north of the Harbor. Mau'i realizes that fighting the wolvar may be necessary but committing genocide is not. He wants you to recover some of their puppies so they can be raised peacefully with the tuskarr. You'll need to enter a camp of 3-4 wolvar, defeat them, and then click on the puppies to pick them up. Continue until you retrieve 12 of the puppies.
Note: If you're still grinding faction for the Kalu'ak after you have flight in Northrend this is especially easy if you are a druid. Flight form druids can easily click to pick up the pups without leaving flight form.
Quest: The Way to His Heart…
Rewards: You will receive over 20 thousand experience, over 7 gold, and 500 reputation.
Description: Anuniaq at Kamagua, Howling Fjord wants you to reunite two sea lions. The sea lions are near the Twin Shores southeast of Kamagua . Your job is to lure a sea bull over to a sea cow. You lure him by throwing tasty reef fish in front of him trailing him to his lover. There are really two integral parts to this quest. The first is using the net provided to catch a good number of tasty reef fish. Nodes of the tasty reef fish are sparkling in the water near the sea lions. The second part is actually luring the bull to the cow. Once you have around 10 fish find yourself a sea bull. Get a sea cow in your line of sight. Walk toward the sea cow, then turn around to the bull and throw a fish. Getting as far away from the bull while still able to throw the fish will allow you to use fewer fish. Just keep throwing fish until the bull and cow meet with hearts floating above their heads.
Note: This daily has to be unlocked through a quest line that begins with Orfus at The Ancient Lift. This is the most time consuming daily you can do for the Kalu'ak. It is cute but can get rather frustrating if you are in a hurry. I've been told you can attack a bull and have it follow you to a cow all aggro. When you get to the cow throw him a fish and you'll be done in a flash, but I've never tried it.
You will become very familiar with the dailies you can do for the Kalu'ak. If you're interested in raising your faction with them, those quests will become second nature. Of course, if you are not looking forward to a purple quality fishing rod or a vanity pet penguin you can skip the grind to exalted. After all, there are quite a few factions that want your attention.
