Florensia Season 2 interview

MMOsite: Hi, so glad to have an interview with you here, I have plenty of questions about your upcoming Florensia Season 2. Before this topic, can you give us a brief introduction about yourself?

Simone: My name is Simone and I am the Marketing Coordinator for Florensia and other games at burda:ic. My field of work mostly relates to visual and written communication, as well as creative efforts centered on Florensia and the community. I have been part of the Florensia team at burda:ic from the very beginning, and I'm really happy about Season 2 and the overall development of our game.

Florensia Season 2 interviewMMOsite: How is this game going in 1 year's running? Can you tell us which part of this game attracts players the most?

Simone: Simone: It's been a great year. Florensia had a strong launch, and we've been constantly working to ensure our players are having fun. Between the elemental damage system, new islands, PvP War Zones, specialized classes, and everything else that's been added, Florensia has never been more exciting. We have also hosted numerous events and creative contests to provide our community with activities beyond the normal gameplay.

Many players are interested in fighting the strongest boss monsters and collecting the most powerful equipment in the game. Some love to write guides and play all the possible classes in order to share their experiences with the community. Others love to explore the Ocean and enjoy the trips through the beautiful countryside or chatting in the towns. It's hard to say what our players love the most because we have so many different types of players with different interests, but I'd say it's the general way of life in Florensia they all find appealing.

MMOsite: And the weakest part of this game? Do you have any plan to improve it?

Simone: Simone: The most common feedback we heard from players was that they wanted more PvP options, and we definitely think the War Zones and the upcoming Harbor Occupation Wars address this request. If they still want more after Season 2, we'll be happy to oblige! We're also constantly working to provide endgame and high-level content since the players never get tired of new challenges. More quests are currently being translated and will be added soon. Feedback from the community has always been and will always be very important to us as we evaluate what should be done next.

MMOsite: As an important part of this game, can you give us some hints about your current PvP system?

Simone: PvP in Florensia is currently focused on individual combat, and the War Zones are the core of the system. Three of the giant PvP battlefields exist, one on Chester Island, one on Magnel Island, and one in the Pirates of the Black Dragon base. All protections are removed in these areas, so players are free to attack anyone they please. That can make for some truly nail-biting battles.

Fighting in the War Zones also influences a player's alignment: killing monsters anywhere in the world awards points for the Royal Army, while killing people in the War Zones aligns them with the Pirates.

MMOsite: And before Florensia Season 2, did you have a guild battle system?

Simone: Players from Guilds could fight individually, but there wasn't a formal system in place for Guild vs Guild combat. We are currently planning to add Harbor Occupation Wars to the live system for public beta testing. If everything works out as planned, players will be able to give us their feedback and their responses will be analyzed to improve the system with short notice. The beta will continuously be updated and new features will be added until the end of the public tests. It's something we've wanted to bring to the game for quite a while, so we're very excited to see what people think of the update.

MMOsite: So, please give us some details about your 48-player battle system. How and where can players start this fight? Is there any limit, such as time, class or level requirements, for the balance of the fight?

Simone: As you've already mentioned, the battle mode is a guild PvP war with 24 vs 24 players. Only guilds of the same level may play against each other. The guild with the higher amount of points has to defend the base while the other attacks, as was shown in the video trailer. A guild with more than 48 members will even be able to participate in two battles at the same time, so upgrading your guild from rank 5 (lowest) to rank 1 (highest) to add more members will become a high priority for all guild leaders.

In the battles, players have to work out a strategy beyond just attacking or defending: each side must protect its guild guard NPC, capture points that provide beneficial effects (e.g. increased HP), and defend or destroy the cannons on the base. Points are earned by killing members of the opposing guild, but points are also subtracted every time a team member is killed. Each battle lasts a maximum of 45 minutes and various criteria are used to determine the winner from the amount of collected points.

MMOsite: Will the battle ground shown in your new trailer be the only place for guild battle?

Simone: The public tests will start with one map. The map's multiple paths, imposing obstacles, and hidden corners make PvP battles very exciting: Which way should the guild go? Should the guild split up in several groups or stay together? Should the +HP base be occupied first, or should the guild directly attack the other guild's base? Who's going to protect the guild guard NPC? A lot of strategic thinking is needed to make those decisions.
