Today MMOsite brings an interview with Chris Rubyor, the Lead Designer on Mytheon to help you get a better understanding of the game.
MMOsite: We are so glad to have this opportunity to do an interview with you. First off, please make a brief introduction about yourself and the developer team for our readers.
Chris Rubyor: My name is Chris Rubyor and I’m the Lead Designer on Mytheon. As lead, I’m responsible for the overall design vision, managing the design group, working with the publisher, and of overseeing the implementation of all game content and systems.

MMOsite: Some of our readers may still be unfamiliar with Mytheon. Could you give us a brief synopsis of the game, including its background and storyline?
Chris Rubyor: Technically speaking, Mytheon is not a traditional Online RPG. Mytheon takes the best elements of action, RPG, and strategy; fuses them together for a truly unique online experience. This combination allows us to create a blend of tactical gameplay with a familiar feel that action and RPG gamers will ease right into. The game environment is instance-based with a hub where players gather, to trade, obtain new quests, craft and socialize.
The Story for Mytheon is set during the time of the ancient gods, but something has changed. The Sisters of Fate have determined that man is ready to take control of his own destiny. Knowing that the ancient gods will not give up their rule easily, they have bestowed unto man power stones. These objects of destruction give man the strength to challenge the gods outright. The player will set out on adventures to collect these power stones which will be used to kick some godly butt: Zeus, Poseidon, Anubis, and RA, just to name a few of the gods you’ll encounter.
MMOsite: We learn that Mytheon chooses mythologies as the theme. Do you think it’s the distinctive feature of Mytheon? Or is it the most impressive highlight to our players and why?
Chris Rubyor: I believe having a Mythological background is one of many distinctive features about the game. Mythology allows us to create a wealth of content from a variety of different pantheons. That is why from the very start of our design process we engineered the core in such a way to seamlessly integrate new pantheons.
MMOsite: Well, Mytheon will have no monthly fees to pay and Micro transactions will be available. What kind of items will be for sale and are these items cosmetic or used to improve the character’s ability, and can you reveal the specific information about them?
Chris Rubyor: Mytheon does not require players to purchase micro-transaction based items to enjoy the game. Instead, the micro transaction system was designed to provide a unique level of convenience for the player. This means players will be able to buy are variety of goods, including: single-use and group-based buff potions, power stone and combat focused gear, UI enhancements, and power stones themselves. We are also experimenting with some fun ideas like weapons and gear that scale in power as the player avatar levels. We’ll see how this is received during our upcoming beta test.
