PEM(Project Em), an online game targeting the global market, is one of the great projects made by China-based Perfect World. Other professional dev teams from different countries also join Perfect World in PEM’s development. This game focuses on taking actions to change the world’s fate, and players’ good/evil conducts will affect the game rules on the running server. PEM involves the whole development history of human civilization. And the unveiled game content at the first stage of game development includes Greece & Troy, Maurya Dynasty of India, Mayan Apocalypse, Roman Empire and Ptolemaic Dynasty of Egypt.

It only has a working code name for now: Project Empire, and that's sounding like the final title will not use either word. Judging from the short trailer, it's a medieval fantasy MMO. The trailer itself is reminiscent of a Blizzard trailer; there's a guy clad in medieval armor battling a huge, humanoid creature in a snowy mountain setting. It ends with a shot of an army, heraldic banners fluttering.We're told that this is a major, big budget effort from Perfect World, and that most of the company's development resources in China are focused on the game. There are no details yet as to when it comes out, or when we'll even learn more about the game.

It is said that this project is expected to be published in North America in 2010.
