1. NCsoft Aims for Second Biggest MMOG
It seems that even NCsoft knows that no other game can de-throne MMORPG giant World of Warcraft. As Gamasutra reports, NCsoft is aiming to produce the second most popular MMORPG with the already wildly popular Aion despite their Tabula Rasa flop which is still heavy in the minds of gamers.
"I believe the performance of Aion in the US and European markets will be very successful. ... We are guessing that Aion will be -- could be -- the second [most] successful MMO in the US market next to World of Warcraft."
Lee said it would be "very hard" to match the success of World of Warcraft, "but Aion will be a very successful product. We are very confident in it."
2. Angry Gamers Considering Activision Boycott
UK gamers are incensed over Activision's plan to price the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 at 54.99 pounds(roughly US 90 dollars). Wedbush-Morgan analyst Michael Pachter ominously described the move as a trial run for Activision: Activision knows it has a 'hot' game, knows that the market will pay an additional 10 per cent, and has decided to increase price accordingly.
Game consumers are also concerned about Activision's pricing plans for specialty controllers for the upcoming Tony Hawk: Ride and DJ Hero.
3. Obama Avatars Will Disappear from Second Life
An article from GamePolitics reported that depictions of real celebrities in Second Life will be under the strict rules next month. According to the new Linden Lab guidelines, the avatar of President Barack Obama as well as many other items will be removed soon.
