Blizzard Entertainment has a lot to be proud of as far as PC success goes. They have developed and published some of the most popular titles to grace computer monitors across the world. Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo have enjoyed monetary success combined with critical acclaim, but it was World of Warcraft, the wildly popular MMORPG, that finally managed to crack the mainstream code. WoW's infiltration of pop culture has undoubtedly offered a new vantage point from which to view geek culture.
The Leeroy Jenkins video was part of the first wave of gamers making fun of themselves. With millions of youtube views, the video is funny for non-WoW players, but it's hilarious for fans of the game. The video is so popular it has spawned spin-off videos as well.
Past five minute youtube clips, there is also an award winning online sitcom about the game. The Guild, written by Felicia Day, focuses on the interactions of WoW players and how they are affected by the real world.
