WoW: Wrath of the Lich King - Midnight Release

There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we’re pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it.

Voices from Players on WoW's Official Forum

Marlan:

It's a good idea. Let the more populous faction (*cough* probably Alliance) morph into Horde, for some cash, and maybe faction balance will finally balance out.

My Horde friends want me to come level up with them you see.

Of course, I've been suggesting this for years (I suggested a "Bronze Dragon Alternate Timeline Morph").
The lesson here is always do everything I say.

Now make me a system where guilds can build castle fortresses at certain pre-plotted sites around the world, complete with custom add-ons like herb gardens, stables, mines, npc guards, and special looms you can use to make epic tabards that have stats on them. You might as well do it now, because you'll be doing it eventually anyway.

Eola:

This is an awesome idea, horde has kinda grown stale for me and I'd love to be able to transfer my high level alts to Alli side to shake things up! Though it would be really cool if you could keep your original race... I'd think the RED LETTERS above your head would be enough to indicate you were an enemy to your former comrades. :P

Aren:

This change would interest me, because I have characters in both factions, & until Jan, anyway, played almost evenly split between them. I would love to have them together - I'm not sure on which side, but it would be something positive - but only if it's an advancement of the game, if I keep my characters as they are now (no elf>draenei pally) - and if the change MEANS something in the game. (I want my blood elf traitor!)

I know it would require more at your end, Blizzard, but please consider some kind of story shift to allow this, rather than just opening up another paid change. Your op certainly sounds like a simple paid race/faction idea, & while that's certainly easier, it could be something so much more. (I always liked the idea of a third faction, that both horde & alliance can join, personally) If we're paying for the service, I'd like to be paying for something I can see.

Nubalol:

they are going to make faction changes able... undead/belf spree INC!...

and alliance was alredy smaller than horde cause of that....

WG is alredy 300vs50 on gurubashi....

how it will be after everyone reroll Belf/Undead?.....

......

bad idea blizzard. bad.

Unscrupulous:

Blue posters: Please note that the following is a constructive suggestion, not more QQ...

If this is going to be a pay service (as we are all aware it is likely to be) please, PLEASE consider offering a discount on the proposed price in cases where a server is severely lopsided if the person making the change is moving from the higher population faction to the lower, providing they are staying on that server.

(Windrunner US, anyone? On that server, there are nearly 3 Alliance for every Horde player...)

Kybeorie:

Its not April 1st again.

Seriously Blizzard?

This is the worst thing ever.

A player's character is the character they made, be it a Night elf hunter or an Orc Warlock.

Letting you change the race(faction) or class, is ridiculous.

The sex change thing made sense, because it was cosmetic only and players often just clicked the wrong one back in the day (or had no idea they'd get hit on so much.)

Worst idea ever.

Bad cave, bad cave.
