Handing out pamphlets promising eternal damnation for anyone who plays EA's upcoming Dante's Inferno video game, Christian protesters are targeting E3 attendees with their warnings of brimstone and hellfire.

The protesters are handing out pamphlets with the following dire warnings:

  • "The Cross is not a Weapon!"
  • "Our high score is in Heaven... and we hope you'll join us on the leaderboard."
  • "Those who fall victim to the trappings of this VIRTUAL HELL game will not have to wait long until they find themselves in REAL ACTUAL HELL where they will not be given any weapons or power-ups to protect themselves from fiery demons, razor blade babies, or spewing bodily fluid."

I'm not sure what "razor-blade babies" are, and I'm not sure I want to find out! I'm looking forward to Dante's Inferno, and I hope it's worth the eternity in Hell. It comes out in early 2010, by the way. Don't say I didn't warn you.

There's some cynical part of me that wonders if this is a publicity stunt... but it's probably not: Religion is a serious thing, and I doubt any game company would use it as a way of getting attention. Let us know how you feel in our comment section, but be respectful, okay? It's not like a few wacky protesters are representative of all Christians, you know?
