It may seem crazy to leave a coveted job at a prestigious game studio, but if your dreams and passions dictate a change, you might as well quit in style. Jarred Woods certainly did so.
Woods, a gameplay programmer at 2K Australia, which developed Bioshock, recently decided to leave the world of multimillion-dollar blockbusters in order to work full-time on his own experimental games. To that end, he let his colleagues know he was leaving by giving notice interactively.

Woods made a small mashup of Super Mario and one of his own games, Polychromatic Funk Monkey - a clever blend of inspiration and his plans for the future. His one-time employers were encouraged to play the resignation letter by navigating Nintendo's platforming plummer through a level whose powerups trigger an "I Quit!" message. After a couple of quits, Woods drops Mario into the world of Polychromatic Funk, where he gracefully and graphically explains his reasons for leaving.
