STO's New Direction: Star Trek Babies Online

For the last few months, we at Cryptic have been doing a large number of focus group sessions for Star Trek Online. The data we received from these sessions confirmed what we long suspected... STO was simply too "Hardcore" and "Strategic".  we've decided to refocus STO in an attempt to woo more "casual" markets. That's where the numbers are and the numbers don't lie. The casual market we're shooting for is largely represented by children, 7 to 14. We are very proud to announce the new and improved...

Star Trek Babies Online

Full of new, unique, and interesting features, Star Trek Babies Online will be first of many browser-based games to come from this talented team. We know Star Trek fans also enjoy strategy games, so we've included many easily accessible challenges. Play Mini-Checkers, Connect the Galaxy Dots! And, for you little competitive Klingons out there, Gher Dah Four will be just for you.

Anime-styled Guild Wars

When you log in today, you may notice your character looking a bit shorter and much cuter. As part of the April Fools' celebrations, all characters appear as an anime-styled Gwen while in towns and outposts. Gwen, of course, has become the unlikely icon of the game, gaining almost a cult status.

City of Heroes goes retro

NCsoft is close to releasing their latest update for their super hero MMO City of Heroes, one which will add something rare for the MMO genre: User created missions and content. However on this April Fool's Day the publisher has just announced a new spin-off game that promises to bring back the 1980s to both the game world and its players.

City of Heroes: Golden Age isn't just about playing in a super hero universe back in the days of Ghostbusters and the first music videos. It's all about playing the game in the style of those 1980s PC game titles. That's right, friend: you are playing the game via the always fun text adventure interface. "All this and the system requirements are almost too good to be true":
