TQ Digital, one of the Chinese leading companies in online gaming, recently revealed their first expansion New Dynasty, for Conquer Online 2.0 Conquer Online, which is a well-known MMORPG with lots of loyal players all over the world. In this expansion, players can find many brand-new features such as new interface, new character hairstyles, new equipment, and expecting new class. Recently we had the opportunity to talk with Pan Deng, the chief Designer of Conquer Online. Now let him give us more details about this new expansion.



MMOsite: Thanks for taking the time to take our interview. To start off, could you give us a brief introduction of yourself and your company TQ Digital Entertainment? 

Pan Deng: Hello, everyone! I'm Pan Deng, the Chief Designer of Conquer Online. First of all, I'd like to thank all CO players for your great enthusiasm and support.

TQ Digital Entertainment belongs to NetDragon Websoft Inc., one of the leading online gaming companies in China. In 2001, our President decided to enter the online gaming market, and hence founded TQ Digital Entertainment.

For the past seven years, TQ has achieved great success in the industry, both in the domestic and international markets, and Conquer Online is the best example. Moreover, NetDragon's IPO in Hong Kong last year also enabled TQ to hire more talents, to fulfill more creatives ideas, and make better games. All these new changes and efforts are just for TQ's eternal dream: to satisfy our players and give them a happy life.

MMOsite: How would you describe Conquer Online for those who are not familiar with it? What kind of online world is Conquer Online?

Pan Deng: Conquer Online is a role-playing game of Chinese style. It's very easy to play. You can communicate with a great number of players and create your own legend in the game.

MMOsite: As the first MMORPG introduced to the global market from China, Conquer Online is still vibrant in the market. In your opinion, what contributes most to the success of Conquer Online?

Pan Deng: Well, in my point of view, the success of Conquer Online comes from its simplicity, that is, players can easily learn how to play this game, which makes it possible for players of different countries and languages to enjoy the fun of the game together. Based on this concept, we make every effort to give players the opportunities to decide how their stories will be unfolded.

MMOsite: Currently, players are particularly interested in Conquer Online's first expansion The New Dynasty. Can you say something about this expansion? What kind of new content can we expect?

Pan Deng: As you know, Ninja, a new profession, will be the main feature of The New Dynasty. They come from another oriental country, but no one knows their real purpose of being here. Ninja will be another option for the players, and things will be much more mysterious and interesting, absolutely.

MMOsite: Just now, you mentioned the new class Ninja. There is no doubt that Ninja will be the spotlight of the expansion. Can you basically introduce this new class to our readers? What kind of class will Ninja be like? And where does your inspiration come from? 

Pan Deng: As you know, Ninja is a profession with mysterious oriental feel. I do believe that most of us want to be a Ninja in the game. Then why not? Obviously, Ninja will be an assassinator. When facing them, the only way to survive is to kill them before they take actions. Of course, no one is perfect. Compared to the powerful attack, Ninja's defense ability is very weak. Ninja will be the weakest one in defense among the professions in Conquer Online.

MMOsite: It is said that Ninja will be the second class which can wield two-handed weapons following Trojan, is that true? Some players are asking whether Ninja can use Shuriken or learn Ninjutsu just like the Japanese Ninja. Can you talk something about the Ninja's skill system, such as XP skill? 

Pan Deng: Yes. Ninja will equip weapons in both hands. Guess what, their special skills will be available in the game, too, for example, if a Ninja uses Shuriken, the target player will not be able to take medicines to get recovered. Moreover, Ninjas will transform into wood when being attacked, but suddenly, they will come out to counterattack! Their speed will be incredible and the XP skill will impress you a lot!
