The website of IGN has released some details on some of the high-level stuff that will be found in World of WarCraft: Wrath of the Lich King:

There may be no release date yet, but Blizzard is at least shining a light on some of the next WoW expansion's endgame and group content. There's clearly been a shift in their dungeon philosophy, as they repeatedly talk of lessons learned from the Burning Crusade and of removing 'barriers to entry.'

As was previously announced, all of WotLK's Raid dungeons will be available in 10 and 25 man flavours. Opt for the ten man version and the loot rewards will be a full tier lower than in the 25 man variant, but that you won't have anywhere near as much trouble rounding up a group makes it a far more viable prospect if you're not a member of an ultra-guild. Similarly, they're aiming to keep every dungeon to an hour or less "It's definitely not our intention to have people stuck in a dungeon for three hours," explains Blizzard's Lead Dungeon Designer Cory Stockton. They've also admitted that many of TBC's Heroic-level dungeons were too hard, and that getting your entire group to many instances was quite the headache. Summoning stones will be revamped to make it rounding your chums up much easier, there's even talk of their operating inside instances. The message is clear: WOTLK is much more about instant gratification. "There shouldn't be a barrier to entry to a dungeon just because it's annoying to get there", says Stockton.

Itemization's in for a rethink too. Expect to find PVP-focused loot cropping up as rewards from PVE dungeons for the first time, more item drops per boss in the 25-man raids, more recipe drops and high-end, super-desirable gear that's suited to up to three classes rather than solely one. Most exciting was the revelation of Championing to ease the much-maligned faction Reputation grind. Traditionally, you can only earn points for a specific faction from a specific dungeon. Soon though, you'll be able to don a special Tabard for your preferred Faction, and will then earn points for them as well as for the dungeon's officially-associated faction. Or you could wear the Tabard of said official faction and you'll win bonus rep for every kill. While we're yet to see this in action, the prospect of access to WoW's awesome Faction rewards without quite so much thankless grinding could well lure back a torrent of lapsed players.
