There's a story about a couple that used World of Warcraft to play and have fun as a duo. However, New York Time have the opinion that playing videogames as a couple isn't healthy.

The details are as below:

The first time Miho Walsh visited Roy Prieb's New York apartment in 2003, she spent three hours watching him and his roommates play the video game Splinter Cell. "I got a good sense of what Roy likes to do in his spare time," Ms. Walsh said.

So she couldn't claim to be surprised that, as their relationship progressed, she was sharing him with his Xbox, making quality time as big a problem as distance. He had moved to Chicago for work, and in a long-distance relationship their moments together were precious.

During her visits from New York, she found herself saying, "I've flown all the way here, it's time to put the controller down." But she acknowledged that he would immediately do so. "He was very good about that."

A year later Mr. Prieb and his Xbox moved back East into Ms. Walsh's apartment. She surprised him on his 32nd birthday with World of Warcraft, the addictive fantasy video game that is played online and requires a monthly subscription fee in addition to the software.

"The cashier said, ˇ®You better just say goodbye to your boyfriend for two months,' " Ms. Walsh said. Instead, she further surprised Mr. Prieb by also offering to play the game, allowing them to explore the land of Azeroth together.

But he quickly left her and her avatar behind. "I couldn't keep up," she said, referring to how quickly Mr. Prieb's avatar advanced to higher levels. "He would have to come back and help me kill off boars."

But he did it from across the room, he said, describing how each of them sat at separate computers.

"She was staring into her screen, and I was staring into my screen," Mr. Prieb said.

So they decided to work together to beat their demons, using only his avatar. "It was better for both of us," he said, "sitting side by side."

He focused on killing monsters, and she ensured that they maintained good social relationships with other players.

"You're walking around in this virtual world, but there are real people behind these characters," Ms. Walsh said, emphasizing the sense of community she found online among the game's millions of players.

It turned out they were not alone in their quest to find quality time. "We ran into other couples online," he said. "We'd say we're actually two people running this character, and they'd say, 'We are, too.' "

But they learned that their time spent playing the game also had a dark side.
