Sometime during the night on Friday Feb. 8th, one of Acclaims web servers was hit with a hack. This hack cause some of our webpages to add an addition line to the HTML as it was served to you the players. The forums of all the games were not effected. Only the main Web Sites and Launcher pages would have been effected.
This line of code linked to a web site that used a javascript to determined if you were using Internet Explorer 5 or greater and then attempted to use a RealPlayer Active X to download and run code on your machine. So only IE 5+ users that also have older versions RealPlayer were at risk. Becuase it was a downloading trojan we do not know what it may have downloaded if it was undetected. We strongly encourage all of you to update your virus programs and run a complete scan to ensure that you were not effected. The most recent updates for the following Anti-Virus programs are known to stop this attack:
AntiVir Authentium AVG BitDefender F-Secure Ikarus Kaspersky Microsoft NOD32v2 Panda Rising Sophos Webwasher-Gateway McAfee (some versions)
Again we strongly encourage you to update your software and run a full scan of your pc just to be safe.
