If PC gaming is dead, then we are necrophiliacs of the worst sort. Next-Gen concludes its Games of 2008 features with the PC platform. WoW: Wrath of the Lich King, Pirates of the Burning Sea, War and Age of Conan all appear on the website of Next-Gen's list of the Games of 2008.

The whole pirate theme is prime material for an MMO: idly float around on the sea with other players... then blast some cannonballs in their general direction. The game has already pretty much launched for pre-ordering consumers, so we'll soon see if Flying Lab's rejection of spellcasting and embracement of eyepatches will pay off.

Funcom thinks that it's time to put more action into MMORPGs. Age of Conan's combat system is based on real-time attacks, which will result in the kind of violence worthy of a game based on Robert E. Howard's Conan character. While the game promises the same kind of questing and looting that MMORPG fans expect, the real-time action may be enough to set it apart from many of the most popular MMOs out today. Even a cursory glance at screenshots shows that Age of Conan will also be a DX10 beauty.
