TBC: Chinese Players Peaks at 800,000 in One Week

On 6th September (Beijing Time), the first expansion pack for World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade finally arrived for Chinese players.

After one week of The Burning Crusade´s launch in China, The9´s (NASDAQ: NCTY) MMORPG World of Warcraft is reported to regain its momentum. The9 added nine server groups to its operation and some estimates the peak concurrent users may have exceeded 800,000.

Zhao Yurun, the PR Director of The9 refused to comment on the estimates but confirmed the rising number of players. Many players also noticed the influx of gamers, "People in my guild who I haven´t seen in ages are all coming back for the expansion pack", says Zou Jun a WoW gamer from Nanjing.

Pearl Research believes rising user metrics indicate the vitality of WoW and will contribute favorably to The9´s Q4 financial results.
